Gary Oldman is an extremely versatile and prolific actor, having roles in many movies besides HP. Let everyone know what movies you've seen with him in it, and what you thought of those movies.
The only one I've seen is the cartoon, Quest for Camelot. It is a great movie, and not childish, with Gary Oldman providing the voice of Ruber, the antagonist. This movie deals with many issues. A girl, Kaylee, has to try to achieve her dreams the hard way, after her father is murdered and can no longer provide her with an easy way to become a knight like she wants. This hits really close to home because my father died of leukemia when I was 10. He actually taped this movie for me when I was little, and we'd watch it together. Another issue confronted in this movie are the limitations of blindness. Kaylee's companion and eventual love interest, Garreth, is blind. He wanted to become a knight, but when he became blind he had to live as a hermit. Kaylee and Garreth help each other overcome these things as they work together to save the magic sword, Excalibur, from Ruber. Providing comedy relief is a two-headed dragon. There is also some amazing music in this movie. I highly reccommend it to eveyone, because it is such an incredible mix of humor, fantasy, and overcoming challenges. -------------------- |

Gary Oldman has been called the "Modern Man of 1000 Faces" (Lon Chaney Sr. was the original 1000 faces) due to his fantastic versatility! Many people are surprised to find out he is British after seeing him in, say Batman Begins or The Professional.
My 2 favourite Oldman films are Immortal Beloved--the Beethoven bio-pic--and Bram Stoker's Dracula. Talk about contrasting styles! The first film of his that really got my attention was the biography of British playwright Joe Orton: Prick Up Your Ears. Oldman fans should definitely check out the pix we have in our immense TLC Image Gallery. I am personally adding more to his albums even as I write this! Also, be on the lookout in Leaky's Gallery Forum for an upcoming thread focusing strictly on Gary, after the phenomenal success we've had with our Alan Rickman appreciation thread! -------------------- |

A Gary Oldman appreciation thread sounds good to me!
Oldman films I have seen include: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead - the first time I noticed him, he was wonderful as Rosencrantz. State of Grace, JFK, Dracula, True Romance, Leon, Murder in the First, The Fifth Element, Lost in Space, Air Force One and obviously HP. He's such a versatile actor. My favourite of his films is definitely Leon as it is one of my favourite films of all time. He is fantastically horrible in it. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern is a close second though, and I was hard to please because I'm a huge fan of the play! -------------------- To get back my youth I would do anything in the world, except take exercise, get up early, or be respectable :-)

Just saw Twinkle Toes in which Gary plays a midget.I wont spoil the movie for those who havent seen it, but although not his usual role still very good. My favorite role he has played is Bram Strokers Dracula.

Gary Oldman is indeed an awesome actor, but this thread would be more at home in Wizarding Wireless Network. May the discussion continue

I am glad that he is back on board for the Harry Potter films. A film I play quite a bit is Basquait. I liked his portrayal of Albert Milo. It's an under-rated film, but I still love it. Hope the list helps refresh people's memory. I also like the fact he doesn't mind being involved in Video Games. I think he realizes that it does reach another audience - and it is still acting. Cheers, Helyx |

Sid and Nancy definitely made me fall in love with him as an actor, he'll always be one part Sid, one part Dracula, and one part Sirius to me! (it made me depressed at how old he looked in Batman, he was a good Gordon, but still...... I'm not ready for him to look so old!)
