As we know, boys can't get into girls' dormitories in Hogwarts - some type of protection is established. But will it still work on a boy who Polyjuiced himself into a girl or on an animagus in his animal form?

hmm..never really thought of that. I dont think a boy would be able to pass as a girl if they took polyjuice potion because maybe the protection has like some way of knowing kinda like the goblet of fire but I don't know, dont ask me lol =]

Everything that humankind discovers or tries to figure out leaves nothing for the IMAGINATION because there are FACTS to prove you right or wrong. But the afterlife makes you wonder: what next?

Boys and girls have different types of chromosomes, hormones, etc. Is it possible to have a magic "y chromosome" detector? Polyjuice only changes the appearance, after all.
The animagus theory is more interesting. Obviously male animals can get into the girls' dorms, as Crookshanks does. If a boy got in in the form of an animal, though, he would probably have to stay in animal form or get whooshed out again. -------------------- There is more to life than dreaming.

I think that the charm would work even on Polyjuiced people, and I think also on animagus. I think the charm is to smart for that!

Dumbledore uses a night-light. Not because Dumbledore is afraid of the dark, but because the dark is afraid of Dumbledore. |

I think the charm is to smart for that! Maybe it would work on animagi at that. Crookshanks knew that Scabbers wasn't a real rat even when everyone else was sure he was. If a cat could do it, a charm probably could, too. -------------------- There is more to life than dreaming.

On the other hand, animagi aren't that common - and surely Hogwarts students don't become animagi on a daily basis, so probably protection wasn't armed for such specific cases...

I totally agree. Why would they have a spell. They wouldnt expect a student to be able to do that. -------------------- <a href="http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/#quiz:results:219055"><img src="http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/newquiz/take_quiz/image/219055" /></a>

On the other hand, Dumbledore knew all about Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs, didn't he? Maybe not at the time they were in school, but certainly by the time of this story. So he'd know it was possible.

It does bring up an interesting question. Where did Malfoy have Crabbe and Goyle take their polyjuice potion in HBP? In theory, I guess they could have done it in the boys' dormitory in Slytherin's dungeons, as the Founders thought girls were more trustworthy and therefore allowed them to enter the boys' rooms, or at least didn't prevent it. But you have to wonder how they were able to get away with it without someone noticing the two girls entering or exiting a closet or a bathroom or the dorms or something with Malfoy.
As to whether the enchantment could prevent an animagus or someone under polyjuice from entering, I bet that has more to do with who initially cast the spell. But unless it was Dumbledore, I would have to say the Founders probably didn't think of that. If they thought girls were trustworthy enough, they probably didn't think through the possibilities. -------------------- |
