Ye GODS. This book is bloody hilarious. I read the first two chapters constantly-- must be on the fifitieth time now-- I laugh hysterically still. The Earth's a Libra... *rolls eyes*
Basically, it's about Armageddon. Aziraphale (angel) and Crowley/Crawly ('an angel who did not so much fall as saunter vaguely downwards') have become friendly over the millennia they've spent together on Earth. When they get orders from their respective masters that Armageddon is to arrive, they aren't too sure that they really want the world to come to an end. After all, it was just getting good. I love the part about the M-25 (a particularly terribly constructed highway outside London) being in the shape of a satanic rune, the traffic on it acting as water on a prayer wheel. (One of Crowley's most ingenious inventions, he thinks) Oh, and the Queen CDs. Not to forget the death of Agnes Nutter. (Ancestor of the prophetess Anathema Device). Anyway, it's awesome. It's absolutely ludicrous, and it's my favorite Pratchett book and my favorite Gaiman book. -------------------- Cellar door.
