Leapt - Verb Simple past tense and past participle of leap. Leaped - Verb Simple past tense and past participle of leap. You can use either one, just being guided by what tone you're trying to project in the sentence. "Leapt" is simply a slightly more archaic usage. (Caution: some younger / more modern editors may mistake it for a typo or misspelling.) --DD -------------------- |

This has been driving me crazy: I understand the difference between "eldest" and "oldest" in most situations. However, I can't figure out which to use at one particular point in a story I'm working on. I've already described the eldest sibling, is it more grammatically correct to then say "the next two eldest" or "the next two oldest"? Neither seems to roll off the tongue (but I'm leaning toward "eldest"). Thoughts?
