I think this was to show that the places Harry had always thought of as safe weren't that safe any more. I guess they will have rebuilt the Burrow with magic for the wedding. I know it seems pointless for the DEs to burn it down when it can be fixed with magic, but I think it was more a case of the DEs sending a message ("We can get at you wherever you are") rather than causing any lasting damage.

Yeah, I think you're right, but I still don't like it, and never will.
But I can't change it, so I just accept it for what it is - a movie, and not a book. smile.gif

Mostly, I realized that the film makers have been way too economical with such rich material, and that there is no comparison to the books. I have pretty much gone back to them completely.

The only redeeming factor for me is the set design, which feels right for the most part. read.gif

What frustrated me the most was the fact that they cut Dumbledores funeral altogether, not even a mention of it! To me it kinda looked like they just decided "ok sick of filmng now lets wrap it up in one quick last scene"

I was however very impressed with the film as a whole, but still cannot pick a favourite!

Yeah, I agree. Even though I actually liked the scene where the students light their wands and pay tribute to Albus, and the Dark Mark vanishes, I missed the funeral. I wanted to see all the characters from previous films return, and the part where the centaurs come out of the forest to honor Dumbledore - just all of it. It would've been heartbreaking to watch, but I really wish they hadn't cut it.

I'm not certain, but I think the funeral might be at the beginning of DH part 1.

Seriously? If they could pull that off, that would be amazing!:)

I heard that too about the funeral at the beginning of DH. But I can't recall the source. It may just be a rumour.

I've heard it a few times, but as I say, I don't know if it's certain. I really hope it's true though. At first I was worried that opening DH with the funeral might ruin the tone of the film (since opening the book with The Dark Lord Ascending really sets the dark tone of the book) but now I actually think that showing the funeral right before the part at Malfoy Manor might work really well for setting the tone.

I find it very dissapointing that they took out the big battle between the DEs and the Order at the end. The movie was already lacking in action, then they messed it up. You knew something was up when Harry drank ALL of the felix felicis to interrogate Slughorn.

I was watching the film last night and Tonks and Lupin really annoyed me for one I could barely recognise Tonks, there was nothing there to show they were together except her touching his arm i think once and calling him sweet heart and if its not going to show how they got together at least show Tonks looking normally instead of having mousey brown hair still which she had in the book because she was depressed, if Lupin and Tonks were already together shouldn't Tonks still have been portrayed as at least a little bit vibrant, even though Voldemort is back?

I also think they tried to make the film easy to understand for the nonreaders however left out so many crucial parts of the story that every nonreader i saw it with was forever asking me questions about what was going on!

Also did anybody else pick up on the fact that all the memory vials read "Thomas Marvolo Riddle" instead of "Tom" yes I know that Tom is short for Thomas but Riddles father was always refered to as Tom and the orphange said his mother requested the him to be named TOM Marvolo Riddle. There were also hundred of vials there when Dumbledore in the book states that it is hard to trtack down memories of Tom Riddle and that there aren't that many of them?
