Kreacher was part of the Battle of Hogwarts. After DH, I think Harry still technically "owned" him. Would he and Ginny have kept him? Does he work at Hogwarts? Would Harry have given him clothes and set him free? Has JKR ever spoken about this? Does anyone have any thoughts about Kreacher's post-DH life? I started wondering about it.

I like to think that when Harry, Ron and Neville went to work for the MOM that they lived at Number 12, Grimmauld Place and Kreacher returned there too.
How long Harry continues to live there is a question, I can't see him wanting to raise his family there.
Maybe he'll move to the country and they'll turn the place into a museum, legendary headquarters of the OOTP and Kreacher will remain a caretaker and tour guide.
He can mumble insults under his breath to give the wizarding tourist a feel for the place.

I think Harry sent Kreacher to work at Hogwarts... Harry would want to raise his children in a normal environment (just like he lived) .. I mean he wouldn't want his kids to be pampered with a house elf to do all their work...

Seeing as at the battle of Hogwarts Kreacher was in the kitchens. Then it is safe to say he is still there working at Hogwarts.

yes, it would be likely that harry sent him to hogwarts to work there in the kitchens. quite funny thinking that kreacher would probably watch over the potter and the weasley kids in their time at hogwarts.

I believe Kreacher would be making food in the Hogwarts kitchens, but he would also go to Harry's side when he needed him.

I wonder how he got to the kitchens at the end of book 7. I mean last we saw he was at Grimmauld place

Yeah. And if Kreacher works in Hogwarts, what will happen to Grimmauld Place? On the other thread where they ask about where Harry and Ginny is living right now, there are people who don't agree that they're staying in Grimmauld Place. So if Kreacher's gone, who's gonna take care of it?

Harry ordered Kreacher to work in the kitchen at the start of HBP. When Harry failed to return to Grimmauld Place, Kreacher could decide that his summons there was over, and thus his earlier orders took precedence. Also while he was still at Grimmauld Place, Harry might have told Kreacher to protect or hide himself if necessary (both for Kreacher's own sake and to protect what knowledge he has about what the trio is up to), and as Grimmauld Place was no longer safe, being just another house elf would be a good way of hiding from those who don't pay much attention to house elves.

That's a good theory but Harry thinks to himself that Kreacher was probably cooking for the death eaters at that very moment. He thinks this when they bring the death eater within Grimmauld Place's bondery and can't go back.
