I love 3D, but please not Harry Potter, all six movies have been filmed the same way, it will ruin it, wont it? It wont add to the story line!

It wont seem like a Harry Potter Movie.

The Harry Potter movies have never been about special effects, but about the story, to turn these final two movies into 3d movies is wrong.

Still Im going to be first inline when it comes out.

I highly doubt that it will be only in 3D. Most- if not all- films that have been released in 3D have also been released in the regular 2D, so I wouldn't worry about that. If you don't want to see it in 3D, you'll be able to watch it the normal way.

I'm a bit torn on this, to be honest. I will want to watch it in 3D to see how it looks, but I always come out of 3D films with a major headache.

Yeah, 3D is still new enough to be distracting and odd. Maybe in a decade or so we'll be used to it and just think it enhances the experience, but right now it's hard to think of a franchise we count on so much going experimental. Experiments have a risk of failure, even when other similar ones have succeded! But I think DH will do well in the box office even if it is 3D, maybe even better. Just so long as the 2D version is fantastic too I don't mind, and it probably wouldn't affect me at all. I don't think I'd bother seeing a 3D version if 2D is avaliable.

OotP was in 3D for the last ten minutes at IMAX. It was great and has its place.

So long as the main release is 2D and I won't be forced into watching 3D if I don't want to I think it might be interesting. I've never yet seen any HP movie in 3D because there is no imax cinema even remotely close, and it's never been released here in 'normal' 3D. I may check it out on the local 3D screen once but I suspect I'll be happier with 2D. 3D still seems like a gimmick to get more money to me. Here I pay $10 for 2D and $18 for 3D, so the difference is pretty huge. I'm not sure it's going to be worth the extra.

Honestly, id love to see DH in 3D. Youre right that it wont add to the story line, but 3D the use of technology hasnt added to the story line of any film. With the recent success of Avatar, both commercial and critical, it only makes sense for Warner Brothers to think about using 3D. And special effects have always played a prominent role in HP. Think aboout... If the basilisk, whomping willow, dragon, lake, and maze challenges, and graveyard scenes had all been in 3D, I really think they would have been amazing. But the technology wasnt available then. However, it is now, so I say take advantage of it.

After watching "Avatar" I knew this was going to happen with almost all the movies. 3D is super awesome.

3D is not new, by the way. I saw "Jaws 3" full movie 3D with glasses in 1987 or 1989 rolleyes.gif

And I saw "Captain Eo" in Epcot Center too in full 3D (the 80s too) rolleyes.gif

Besides, 3D will make people to go see the movie in theaters and not pirated DVDs as it happened with "Avatar"

"Avatar" broke Titanicīs record just for that: 3D

I don't think 3D is neccessary to make DH awesome, but when I imagine watching that battle scene in 3D... or the Gringotts scene... that would be amazing for sure.
I agree with nellythemarrow that it might be distracting, because everything would be completely action-centered. But I don't think they would have it only as a 3D movie, so I'm not worried.

My biggest problem with 3D is the glasses don't fit over my own. And without my own I won't be able to see the screen let along notice its 3D. It'll be 2D all the way for me. Not that I'm complaining 3D gives me a headache and makes me slightly dizzy.

I went to see Avatar at the Imax (which is where they'll probably release DH in 3D) and the glasses they give you there are much better than the ones they give you for 3D at regular cinemas. I have to put them over my own glasses too, and they fit quite comfortably.

I will probably go and see DH at the imax, because there's nothing quite like the experience of seeing a film in 3D, in my opinion.

My only problem is that- as I found at Avatar- if I sit too close to the screen I get motion sickness for about half an hour at the start!

But, the DH films will still be in regular 2D for everyone who doesn't like 3D. The films aren't shot in 3D, they are shot in 2D and then converted to 3D later, so both formats will be available.
