This is what i heard so take it as a rumor.
Warner Bros. are goin to be releasing extended versions of all of the Harry Potter movies starting with Philosopher's Stone sometime around the middle of next year, then realese them each one every six months. They are going to come in a 4 disc box set, with the first disc being the extended film, the second disc having the original film and the other two disc packed with special features. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone These are the extra scenes. apparently the film will go for an extra 30 mins. - Alternate opening sequence with owls flying over London. - Vernon and Petunia discuss the evening news and Petunia’s sister in the evening at Privet Drive. - Hagrid flying towards Privet Drive on flying motorcycle. - Dudley models his Smeltings Uniform. - Aunt Petunia finds letters inside eggs. - The milkman delivers milk bottles filled with letters for Harry. - The Dursley’s go to stay at Railview Hotel, until the owner says he has some letters for a Harry Potter. - Hagrid and Harry enter the underground train station. Hagrid gets stuck in the ticket barrier. - Hagrid and Harry on the train. Hagrid discusses his desire to own a pet dragon. - As Hagrid talks to the Goblin another Goblin comes up to Harry and stares at him. - Hagrid and Harry are lead through the tunnels of Gringotts on a wild cart ride with Griphook the Goblin. - Hagrid and Harry emerge onto Diagon Alley. Harry visits Madam Malkin’s where he meets Draco Malfoy. Hagrid buys Harry an ice cream. - As Harry walks along the platform he sees Fred and George looking at a spider of Lee Jordan’s and Neville being yelled at by his Grandmother because he has lost his toad. - Altered encounter between Harry and Malfoy on the stairs. - Extended scene of Dumbledore making the start of term notices. - Extended sorting ceremony. - The Gryffindors encounter Peeves on the moving stairs. - Transfiguration lesson. - Extended Snape’s Class. - Harry, Ron and Hermione discuss the troll and become friends. - Extended Quidditch match. - Christmas dinner. - Harry and the Weasley’s have a snowball fight in the courtyard. Fred and George bewitch snowballs to follow Quirrell around. - Harry reads the note that accompanied his invisibility cloak again. He decides to take a stroll. - Ron discourags Harry from visiting the mirror again. - Extended discussion between Harry and Dumbledore about the mirror. - Harry finds Nicolas Flamel on a chocolate frog card. - Extended forbidden forest scene. - Extended encounter with Neville. Neville asks Hermione to kiss Trevor goodnight. - Extended Devils Snare scene. - Extended discussion between Harry and Dumbledore. |

I say it's long overdue for them to release the extended editions. I hope by then I have made the decision to either get the HD-DVD or Blu Ray system so I don't end up buying a 3rd copy of the films.
What I do hope with the Extended Edition DVD's is that they do correct a few digital errors with Hogwart's castle. The first two films make it seem so flat, whereas in the 3rd film, Hogwart's really became a magic school for me - design wise. Warner Brothers should also take the effort now to restore all the images to pristine quality before releasing the 4 DVD sets. This is one of their Film Treasures. I have enjoyed what Warner's finally did with Blade Runner this season in their 5 DVD release, plus they just restored all of Stanley Kulbricks films to a high digital level. So I am optimistic about them maintaining the level of quality that people expect today! |

i went away to gran canaria this week with jet2.com planes. and they have these groovey little entertainment sets (little teles, almost like mp4s - but the screen size of a portable dvd player.) and one of the movies that was on it was ootp.
and it wasnt really any longer than the normal film. but i noticed near the end of the film a few different scenes that wernt in the released version of the film. 1. in the d.of mysteries once the order has come theres a little bit where you mad eye stomp his stick at a death eater. 2. and you know in the released version of the film when after the whole ministry thing harry is in his dorm and dumbledore comes in and they have the talk about whats happened and stuff. well in this version they had a clip of harry in the dorm sorting out some clothes and then went to being in dumbledores office having the same conversation. to be honest, the office version looked quite stiff and not natural enough as they were sat on these large chairs, so thats probably why they changed it. it was like it was the 1st edition of the film, and then they changed it or something. well those 2 things were the only things i noticed and they were near the end , so there might have been more, but i didnt realise. both those bits were in the version of the film i saw in the cinema, and theyre on my copy of ootp dvd.

To ByRichard: I think it will be a wide release. not just in the US. But I don't know if any of this is real so take it as a rumor for now.

Ill be happy if they even included half of that stuff. Like the edition they show on ABC family, plus more.
If I were being REALLY wishful, I would wish that the WB might go back and upgrade some of the special effects in the first movie at least (the first one had the worst effects, because they were rushed a lot more than the other movies. Or at least update the quidditch scene a little. |

Hello loungers! I was wondering if any of you knew what kind of stuff is there in the bonus DVD from the new Harry Potter 1-5 DVD set. Are there any cut scenes we didn't get with the old double discs?

Hey fer_keeper. I recently bought the special edition pack 1-5 with bonus disc but to be honest there is not a lot of new material on the bonus disc that we haven't seen before. If you are like me and trawl the net constantly for anything HP because you are completely obsessed
then you most likely have seen all of the footage on the extra disc before as a lot of it comes from what was shown on tv specials etc already - there are no new deleted scenes etc... however I did not get the HD version so that maybe slightly different.Anyways hope that helps

I know that they shot an extra piece before the troll fight. Are they not adding that?
