Right, so I've been listening to "Harry Potter the Musical," the production put on at University of Michigan earlier this year whose YouTube channel was recently advertised on Leaky. I find the songs catchy and clever, and I'd like to be able to sing along. Unfortunately, it's not always easy to figure out the lyrics from the videos. As I suspect that others here are in the same situation, I was wondering if folks would like to help me figure out the lyrics and record them here.
The songs were written by Darren Criss (who plays Harry Potter) and A.J. Holmes (who plays the piano). If these people happen to be here (hello!), or if someone knows how to reach them (MySpace/Facebook/Twitter? I am totally clueless with social networking sites), and if they would be willing to provide the lyrics (perhaps they've already done so somewhere?), then of course that would be best and easiest. If anyone has any information about how to obtain the official lyrics, please post here and let us know! In the meantime, though -- let's see what we can figure out by listening to the videos. Just to narrow things down, I'm thinking of only tackling the songs, not the spoken dialogue (although short stretches of dialogue in the middle of a song might be a grey area). If you're not sure what the actors in the videos are singing, take your best guess, then put those words in square brackets and put a question mark after them, like so: [Slow walkin' Walter, the fire engine guy.](?) Then others can take guesses as well, and maybe together we can figure it out. (Of course, you can suggest alternatives for any lyrics, not just the ones that the transcriber marks as uncertain.)Dear Mods: This is the first thread I've ever started on the LL, so I'm a bit unsure about how things work.
