Here's your nice, new edition.
From the original post in Part 1: As I was looking at my brother, who's Harry Potter-esque, 17, and has been shaving for 3 years, I wondered about the facial hair habits of our hero, Harry Potter. Has he started shaving? Who would have taught him? Would he use a razor, or would he have learned a shaving spell? Before I realized that it was a completely useless question to ask, I gave the question quite a bit of thought... What strange questions have you asked yourself while reading Harry Potter that don't really mean much to the story but make you chuckle for thinking about them and giving them a lot of thought? I always wondered if things would be a lot easier the Muggle way. I mean, wouldn't an email be faster than a letter sent by an owl? Wouldn't a text message be faster than a talking patronous? Could you shoot Voldemort when he wasn't looking? I mean, if he was, he'd be able to stop it, but from behind? Also, a lot of that homework could be done in half the time if they could just TYPE it! |

I've always thought that it must be easier to be able to type things, or even use pencils because you don't have to keep dipping into ink and you can actually erase things instead of scratching them out. Their essays must take so much longer because they have to write everything out...

^Not necessarily... Remember the auror at the Ministry of Magic (OotP)? He's dictating a report to a quill, and Rita Skeeter has a quick-quotes quill, so I guess there are a few shortcuts, and you could possibly charm a typewriter so you can dictate to it.
Now, for the true nature of this topic ( -------------------- ![]() |

Anyway. *wipes tears of laughter out of eyes and rubs hip where it ran into the chair* On to your question. And a what a very good question it is. I wonder if girls do that? Oh, imagine trying to explain that to Madame Pomphrey... MP: What happened here, girls? Girl 1: We umm...well, we were having a pajama party... Girl 2: Yeah, and Susie here made a bet with us... Susie: Hey! Girl 2: Well, you did. And, well...the bet was...er...you know... MP: AGAIN?! Well, come over here, girls...*sighs exasperatedly* ETA: 1,500 posts!!!! If Madam Pomfrey dealt with Hermione turning into a cat without asking too many questions, I'd say it wouldn't be much of an issue to go to her to fix your newly-modified endowments, so to speak, if the situation came up.
Suddenly the idea of a magical slumber party sounds reeeeally fun! Edited to add, now that I think of it - why would anyone want her to fix the aforementioned issue? This post has been edited by Chickadee: Oct 22 2007, 09:01 PM -------------------- ![]() Fred & George |

QUOTE Edited to add, now that I think of it - why would anyone want her to fix the aforementioned issue? I'd say a good time to start fixing that is when you have a little 5'2" girl that can't stand up straight because the enchantment.... er.... worked a little too well! -------------------- Dorrie Elizabeth

Suddenly the idea of a magical slumber party sounds reeeeally fun! I could sneak in and take a few pictures for future blackmail purposes (among other purposes). Now that we speak of witches' endowsements, are there "special" clothes for them? Maybe with a cushioning charm included? I had a comment about a charm Hermione used to build a tent and old wizards, but I want to keep this topic rated "E" for "Everyone". -------------------- ![]() |

I had a comment about a charm Hermione used to build a tent and old wizards, but I want to keep this topic rated "E" for "Everyone". LAAAAAAWL. My imagination really ran away with me on that one... make me un-see it!! XD Now that JKR has revealed to us that some teachers live away from Hogwarts and commute to work, in other words one Professor Neville Longbottom who lives above the Leaky Cauldron with his wife Hannah Abbot, the new proprietor of said establishment, it got me thinking about the possible homes or boltholes of other Hogwarts teachers. We know that Snape lived in Spinner's End in a dingy old house by a mill somewhere in Yorkshire, but whether he used it only during the summer holidays or throughout the year, perhaps as a place of escape after a particularly bad day at work, is still open to question. But what about McGonnagal, Sprout, Flitwick, Trelawney, Sinistra, etc, where did they spend their free time, away from the presence of the students? I assume they would have rooms, apartments in Hogwarts themselves, but would they also have their own private homes far way from Hogwarts but still in reach by the Floo Network? Anyone got some ideas on this? This post has been edited by moony_lupin: Oct 23 2007, 04:40 PM -------------------- Siggie avatar by Hagiographer13 ![]() |
