Hey!
So, as there'll definitely be a new DADA teacher in the seventh book, it's pretty much a given that hogwarts will reopen, right? It would be rather dumb of Harry not to returm, wouldn't it? There's Dumbis portrait, the biggest library you can find, a safe place, teachers who can help him and are loyal to the order...everything he needs. It's not as if it'd do him any good sitting all day in Grimmauld place, right? And i don't think McGonagall will mind if he´and his friends are going out from time to time. Or would she? Good,i'm so curious, i can't sit still. I also think the reason why Voldi gave Lilly so many surviving-chances, is Snape. Maybe he knew he liked her or something?Sounds like kitsch, but really now, Snape WAS in love with her. Thats so bloody obvious. And i find it very intriguing indeed that there are so many Snape-hints, but still one can't be sure whom he's fighting for. Not Voldemort if you ask me.But Harry? And even if he told Dumbledore about the unbreakable vow, that doesn't mean he's good, right? He would have known that Dumbledore would rather be killed by him than be the cause of his death, no?He could have told Dumbi that he didn't have another option or something. It's snapeafter all, master of misleading.I wonder if Snapes really loyal to ANYONE.It seems as if he's always doing what he thinks is the best...God, i want him to be good... ------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Very comprehensive list Lisa, impressive! It will be quite nice to have this at hand when reading DH and ticking them off...

Somehow I can't picture the conversation where Snape asks Voldemort to spare a Muggle-born member of the Order of the Phoenix.
My colleague roonwit has suggested that Voldemort needed her to obtain something and I think that makes a lot of sense. -------------------- |

Hello everyone. This list of quotes is amazing. However I have a couple of questions.
The whole "Remember my last. Petunia" thing: It is new information to me that the last letter Dumbledore refers to is the one he left with baby Harry. I thought this Howler referred to subsequent correspondence between them. I did not know that a new DADA teacher was going to come to Hogwarts in Deathly Hallows. That pretty much states that the school will be open as is posted above. But the source to this info is the interview Melissa and Emerson did in 2005, and I've recently read that and I don't remember anything in there about this matter. If someone clarified this for me I'd be very thankful This post has been edited by Maca: Feb 24 2007, 07:40 AM |

Maca,
If you click on the link below the summary it will take you to the text of the interview that the statement came from. But maybe our text wasn't clear. According to Jo's website, the "Remember My Last" did refer to the letter left with baby Harry, and it was his "last" because they had corresponded prior to that time. Don't take my word for it though, read the passage we link to on Jo's website: http://www.jkrowling.com/textonly/en/faq_view.cfm?id=55 As far as the DADA teacher, the source is not the TLC interview (I will check my text in the book but right now it doesn't want to load for me). The text comes from the "cub" reporter question-and-answer session that occurred at the Edinburgh Book Festival in 2005: http://www.accio-quote.org/articles/2005/0...orters.htm#dada -------------------- |

I must say, the end of this essay has me feeling (tremendously more so than every before) that Lupin is going to die. It's a relative certainty to me, now. I'm not sure if I'm thankful or not, but I must say it's better to know it's coming than be shocked in my opinion, Lisa.
Well done, over all, Lisa! I really appreciate the wrap-up, and the time it took to get it all down and categorize is fan-worthy, indeed. Much of the information I know I've read before, except for the one on cats, which threw me into a google flutter... Whereupon I found that a "Grimalkin" is the name for a demonic (or faery) Celtic cat of the Highlands. "Malkin" translates to "cat" in Scottish Gaelic, I believe. I find that interesting since the shopkeeper's of Diagon Alley are very interesting as far as plot goes, and one character is even named "Madam Malkin." Is she a Squib? Or a demon in disguise? Very interesting. (Also note that malkin is an adjective used for a surly type of woman, but our Madam Malkin doesn't appear to be so, especially if you read her description on the Lexicon.) -------------------- ![]() Everthing will be alright in the end If it is not alright, then it is not the end... -- Unknown |

I'm just guessing, but I think Madam Malkin's name attracted Jo because of the traditional association of cats with witches. I don't think there's anything more to it than that. Thanks for the Scottish translation. I don't think that's in the Lexicon.
What about my piece convinced you that Lupin will die? -------------------- |
