Brought on by the most recent Pottercast discussions on Hufflepuffs and Death Eaters, I wonder if the two walks of life can ever join. I think it's quite possible for ANY student/person in ANY house to go wrong and work for the darker side. Let's remember Wormtail who was in the bravest house of them all but ultimately turned to LV and the Death Eater life-style showing many signs of weakness.

On Answers.com, this snippet can be found on Helga Hufflepuff: **She does not appear to have applied particularly strict standards of selection to her House: although in GoF she is stated as having considered “hard workers most worthy of admission”, she is elsewhere described as taking ‘all the rest’ of the students after selection by her colleagues, and is quoted by the Sorting Hat as having said “I’ll teach the lot, and treat them just the same.”**

Is it possible for a Hufflepuff to become a Death Eater? If just one person from this house could be tempted by the dark side, what do you think would do it? These students are essentially "all the rest" meaning they could show signs of the three remaining houses, but don't necessarily fit into one alone; They mingle in between showing strong signs of every house. These loyal Hufflepuffs might just be loyal to another leader...

I, myself, can admit that I would probably be in Hufflepuff. I have traits that fit into the other houses, but my strong suit is not one particular trait but many and on different levels. Aside from where you feel you stand within the school of Hogwarts and its four houses, think about how a Hufflepuff (or even a Ravenclaw) could become one of the Dark Lord's evil minions. I think it's easier to imagine than you think. Remember that it is not our abilities that define us but our choices.

Please discuss! I'm looking forward to everyone's thoughts...
