Previously we told you about the Open Book Tour author J.K. Rowling would be undertaking this fall here in the United States, making three appearances for school children only at schools in Los Angeles, New Orleans, and New York City. She will also be appearing at Carnegie Hall in New York on Friday October 19 at 7pm, and as a reminder, tickets for this stop are available to the public via a special sweepstakes which will close in one week on August 31.
Scholastic has now updated with information that Jo will be reading from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at the event in NYC, and ” will answer questions about the entire series. Following the reading and Q & A, Ms. Rowling will be signing books for audience members. In order to make sure that she is able to sign a book for everybody, she will only sign one book per person. Each person will receive a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but, if an audience member chooses to bring a favorite copy of any book in the series, Ms. Rowling will sign that instead.” If you wish to attend what is sure to be a wonderful event, you still have time, and you may enter this contest (ONE ENTRY PER PERSON ONLY) by printing out the entry form, here (PDF) and submitting your entry by mail to Scholastic, attn: J.K. Rowling and the Open Book Tour Sweepstakes 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012. One thousand pairs of tickets will be given away to this event, and for more information and rules, click here. Has anyone received notification that they have won tickets? I think today was the day that people could start hearing from Scholastic.

Well I've heard from one person saying they've been notified they won. So I guess they've started to go out. I assume they are by mail?

Oh wow..lucky person! I'm assuming winners will be notified by mail..although nothing is mentioned on the Scholastic website regarding how winners will be informed. Lady Narcissa..perhaps you could ask the person who won?

I've won. I was called by a nice woman from Scholastic on Wednesday. Luckily, the person who answered my home phone didn't think it was a hoax or phonespam, and gave them my cell number.
I couldn't (still can't) believe it. I almost didn't mail the entry because I never win these things. They are sending me a packet of information, including a legal release I have to sign (no idea what for) and some FAQs about the reading. If there's anything we don't already know, I'll post it. She did say that we (the winners) can submit questions to Jo before the event and some will be chosen for her to answer. She won't be taking open questions, so I don't think there will be a mike setup as there was in Radio City. Didir -------------------- "Never slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide."

Congratulations Didir! That is wonderful for you.
I can only hope one doesn't have to be at home to win. Hopefully they leave messages for people who are away during the day. |
