The writing is on the wall as they say....or in this case, the writing is on the statue!!

On the 11th January 2007, Jo Rowling marked the finishing of the Deathly Hallows book by writing on a statue of Hermes - the messenger of the Greek Gods - in the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh!

It's a far cry from her beginings as a writer in cafes around this lovely city, but what do you think of this.....graffiti? And what should happen to the bust now? The Balmoral Hotel have removed it so it does not become a shrine to Potter fans - (like that would happen wink.gif ) - so should it be displayed somewhere? And what was the significance of the statue being that of Hermes? Was it merely a message or is there something more symbolic with regard to one of the characters? Hermes is of course the owl belonging to Percy Weasley - is he one of the two that die?

Whilst we wait for more images to go into our Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows events album - have fun theorising about this image that will go down in Potter folklore as the place where it all finished!
