I watched 16 Candles the other day and I have to say I liked it more than Pretty In Pink, though perhaps not as much as Home Alone tongue.gif Though those are probably a different "kind" of movies, so, I don't really want to compare them. Again, I found the main girl in 16 Candles very relate-able-to. Now, I really begin to see what those of you mean who say that John Hughes really understood teenage girls. However, I really like how teenage boys are portrayed in his movies as well - well, at least in the ones I've seen. I like that it's shown that there are (at least some) boys who have a sensitive side as well. His movies give hope to girls like me tongue.gif

I didn't grow up with these movies, but I think a lot of them hold up really well. Movies like The Breakfast Club are as accurate about teenage angst today as they were back then.

It's sad that he died, he really was a great writer and director.

I went to Pretty in Pink when it screened at Sundance - to a minimal audience. I knew already he was on to something with teenagers. I loved the filmed - I thought it was odd since so few people saw it - how did the great reviews get written about it from Sundance?

I cried so hard when I found out he died. I grew up watching the Breakfast club and Pretty in Pink. He is one of my inspirations and me and one of my friends had been planning to do a remake of The Breakfast club....Now we will have to dedicate it to him. He is one of those people I would have loved to just sit and chat with and find out where he got his Ideas....it's just so sad....

The other day I watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off again. I had forgotten just how many now well-known actors starred as kids in that movie. It is another iconic John Hughes movie ... not as great (in my opinion) as Trains, Planes and Automobiles but right up there with the best. cool.gif
Thinking about it, as I found myself doing while I was watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off, his movies do have a distinctive feel, like they're not just some other teen movie in that genre but, they have something specific like you know you're watching a John Hughes movie. He was a great guy ...
