FAITH, PATIENCE AND ANGER

At the end of GOF, Harry has been through a horrible experience, when he barely survived Voldemort's rebirthing to bring back to Hogwarts, Cedric's body, only to find himself in the clutches of a murderous Barty Crouch Jnr. But Harry's warning about Voldemort is flatly denied by Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic, who doesn't like to hear his wealthy friend, Lucius Malfoy, is a Death Eater, and who has been reading Rita Skeeter's article.

So what happens directly after Harry returns to 4 Privet Drive? Nothing at all. No news, though if he cared to read the Daily Prophet carefully, Harry would have seen snide little snippets about his own truthfulness and trustworthiness. Harry is afflicted with nightmares, a result of his experiences, and when a pair of dementors attack him and his cousin, Dudley, he is whisked off in advance of the hearing he must attend a week later.

This is the introduction to CAPSLOCK! Harry. The following questions are only meant to give ideas for discussion.

Was Harry right to lose faith in Dumbledore? Would he have avoided much trouble in the year to come if he had exercised more patience and self-control? Or is it only the link with Voldemort that causes Harry to lose his temper?

Why did the real Moody give the photograph of the original Order of the Phoenix to Harry? What does meeting the boggart in the cupboard reveal about Mrs Weasley?

But what is Voldemort's strategy at that time? Could it be that this almost perennially angry personage could also have exercised some patience? Why exactly was Harry getting those funny dreams, and why was Harry being used to fetch the prophecy Voldemort wanted? How much faith did Voldemort have in his devoted followers to do as he commanded?

When recruiting members of the DA in the Hog's Head, was Hermione's precaution of jinxing the membership parchment DA justified? Or should she have had more faith in all the people present at that meeting?

At one point in the story, Dolores Umbridge claims she has been patient with Harry's saying that Voldemort has returned. Has she really? Does Dolores Umbridge really have so much faith in Cornelius Fudge's denials? What do all those educational decrees say about Dolores Umbridge? Were you shocked to learn who got the Dementors to attack Harry and Dudley?

At this point in the story do you think that Dumbledore's faith in Snape is misplaced? What do you make of the enmity between Sirius and Severus Snape?

Sirus was very frustrated being stuck in a house he hated and being taunted by Snape telling him how little he had done. After 12 years of being in a box anyone of us would want to really help. Many times Sirus acts before he thinks.
That is important for later.

Harry is very confused. The person he has turned to for so long for answers now treats him like the plague. Umbridge is doing everything to keep Harry feeling even more angry and alone.

His two friends are not sure what they can do to help him. He is very mean to them. Through the help of another he begins to understand that being alone is what Voldemort wants. As Hermione gets him into teaching he thinks more about others and not about himself one of the best ways to Feel less depressed and proud of what he has accomplished.

Many readers seem to forget that for the first eleven years he was in a cell. With no friends and treated worse than a dog. This tends to make one a loner. It takes him a long time to understand what Sirus meant when he said keep your friends close.

Also, the one person he does and has always searched out for is Dumbledore for answers. After the trial he does every thing he can to stay away from Harry, thinking that will protect Harry? Hm. sounds fishy to me.

Voldemort is many things but to this point is not stupid. What is the one person who can get him to the the room of requirements, Sirus. That explains that even though the death eaters know his anamagius form Voldemort wants to use Sirus later to draw out Harry when the time comes.

Towards the end he knows he must act when he thinks Sirus is going to be killed. It is a very important moment of growth when he has the others along.

Mr. Malfoy is brilliant what else can I say. Harry finds out he has been tricked and he and his friends do their best to defend themselves. But one by one they are struck down. Finally Sirus and the rest of the order arrive to save the day. The globe is distroyed and the death eaters are being beaten.

Then the worst of thing that Harry has feared comes true, Sirus dies. It is only by Lupin holding him back that prevents Harry from dieing. He then goes after Bella and shows he can use the forbidden curses if he wants to. But not the killing curse.

Finally after all of this both Voldemort and Dumbledore show up. Its about time.

Dumbledore after all this is over puts on an act like a child caught being bad and he is so sorry. Harry has been put through much but Dumbledore is a master, when it comes to handling Harry. Of course Harry understands that it was for his own good. When we know what we know now, did he get the short hand? But Dumbledore like old Grandpa gets away with it. He still has his hog.
