Three weeks ago I got a call form my brother in Toronto. He called and he was crying. He told me that he had just heard from a friends sister. Chris' sister called and informed us that Chris had been hurt. Ryan, Chris' partner had been looking for him, without success.

Chris had been at a bar to celebrate his sister's birthday, he was on his way home when he was attacked by two or more people. They proceded to beat him until he either couldn't get up or was unconscience. Is if that wasn't bad enough already they then proceded to flee in and SUV and intentionally ran him over.

[...]

However it's now three weeks later and they still havn't caught who it is, I'm so angry and confused.

I'm sorry about the death of your friend. Losing someone you care about is always hard, especially, it seems, when the loss is due to the violence of another.

I've been in the same place you are right now. About 10 years ago I lost someone I had known my whole life. He was stabbed to death in his own home and no one has ever been arrested, let alone charged, with his murder. Time helps temper the grief of loss, but not the anger over knowing that no one has ever been held responsible for his death. For the sake of Chris' family and friends, I hope the police are able to find who took his life and hold them responsible.

Some people just need to grow up and realize that studying needs to come first! Currently, my roommates refuse to talk to me because I've been spending more time studying than hanging out with them. Really? Is that a good reason to just ignore someone? We're in college! We're supposed to be here to study! We are not here to just play around. If I just wanted to watch TV and gossip all day then I wouldn't be paying over $14,000 a year to do it!
Ahh! This has been going on for about two weeks now because they decided that me practically living in the library thanks to all the work I have to get done means that I'm trying to avoid them. They really don't understand that my classes are a lot harder than theirs knowledge-wise, something that's a known fact all around the university. It's just very frustrating. I'm not used to being hated, and especially not for something as stupid as this. I've tried to explain the reasons why I haven't been around, but apparently every time I leave they talk about how I'm lying and only going to the library to get with some guy. At this point, I feel like they're not even worth it anymore. Not only have they been absolutely horrible about me when I'm not around (one of my friends that lives with me told a mutual friend of ours who told me when I asked why she was so upset), but I also think that they stole most of my jeans. A week or so ago all of my favorite jeans went missing from my closet and have yet to reappear. I don't even care who took them - I just want them back! I won't even ask questions if they return, I just really don't want to have to spend all my money buying new clothes.
This turned out to be a lot longer than I expected and I'm sorry; I just couldn't stop once I got started thinking of everything that's been going on lately.

That's a horrible situation and I'm sorry that you're having to put up with such childish behaviour. My friend had the exact same problem in her first year of University. At first, she spent a lot of time going out and having fun with her room-mates, but when she decided that she needed to cut bac on her nights out and get down to doing some work, they all turned on her. They ignored her, they gossipped about her, they even started doing stupid things like leaving the full-up bin outside her door and stealing her food.

It's ridiculous that people at that age can be so childish. I don't really have any advice for you because I've never been in the situation myself. Just remember how much more responsible and mature than them you obviously are. You have your priorities in the right order and they'll regret all the time they spent messing around when it comes to the end of the year and deadline/exam time.
