Great chapter, Matilda!
The trio is what really makes the series. I have enjoyed watching them grow from little children into adults. It is amazing to see how much they have changed yet still remained the same throughout the past six years. Who they are right at their core is who they have always been. Each experience that they have had together really has strengthened their relationship. The way that Jo writes their relationship is very realistic because they have gone through many bumps in the road where one of them is not talking to the other one or all of them are not speaking to each other. It makes their relationship real. It makes it solid. QUOTE Harry is, at heart, a simple guy, someone who loves his friends, and likes hanging out and playing Quidditch. He is not tempted or controlled by any of the things that Voldemort would understand: power, money or fear. Harry is not power-driven or ambitious; he’s been chosen through circumstances beyond his control to become the Hero who will challenge and defeat Voldemort. I absolutely love this description of Harry. You have captured the reasons we all love him so much. QUOTE For there to be any kind of victory in the finale of the series, therefore, each member of the Trio needs to come through unscathed. I agree. The Trio is a whole, if one part of them is broken, then they are no longer complete. They all would risk their lives for each other in a heart beat, which scares me. However, I think in order for goodness to really prevail, the trio needs to remain a trio in the end. -------------------- |

What a fabulous essay, Matilda!
The Trio has been one of the things I have loved the most about HP. I have lost count of the number of times I have seen myself and my closest friend in what they say and do. It can be erily uncanny at times, but it just shows how wonderful Jo really is at capturing the essence of her characters. I am so nervous about all 3 of them making it through to the end. Your essay did a marvelous job in calming some of my fears and I thank you for that. I think I'll still be nervous until I read all of DH, though. Again, which is just more testament to Jo's ability to create such wonderful charcters that we are all on edge abou their fates. -------------------- Prophecy 2007

Great Job, Matilda!!
I loved this essay. It helped me feel better about the trios future also. I have maintained all along that they will all survive, but it's nice to have something that points to it being true! I also wanted to say that that was great character analysis. I think you hit the nail on the head about every character. -------------------- ![]() Siggy by atschpe, Most avis used in mine by KimmyBlair |

QUOTE(devnet @ Feb 26 2007, 11:07 PM) What a fabulous essay, Matilda! The Trio has been one of the things I have loved the most about HP. It can be erily uncanny at times, but it just shows how wonderful Jo really is at capturing the essence of her characters. I am so nervous about all 3 of them making it through to the end. Again, which is just more testament to Jo's ability to create such wonderful charcters that we are all on edge abou their fates. I couldn't agree more! I was just about to post the same thing. This is an amazing essay and it made me realise how great they are - as individuals and as a unit. From the start the Trio has been my favourite thing, I truly love them. Harry is my favourite but H and R are definitely numbers two and three. I love them most when they are together. Matilda is absolutely right about the seven tasks in PS - and I believe we will see this in Deathly Hallows, when they are hunting Horcruxes. I already said this in another post, but Trio the Great! Did I say I adored this essay? It makes me see more clearly why they are so great and why JKR is one of the best storytellers - the characters! I can't say anything rational anymore... Gotta be one of my favourite essays I've read in a while - good job, seriously! -------------------- 'That which Voldemort does not value, he takes no trouble to comprehend. Of house-elves and children’s tales, of love, loyalty, and innocence, Voldemort knows and understands nothing. Nothing. That they all have a power beyond his own, a power beyond the reach of any magic, is a truth he has never grasped.'<3

The trio are the glue that holds the hold thing together, Because if harry didn't have friends he's be just like LV. I like how they'd do anything for each other, Friends till the end etc.

I think the trio are the personification of what Dumbledore meant when he said that Harry's greatest weapon was his ability to love. Harry's love for his friends and their love for him will be what wins this final battle, I am sure

Dumbledore's Army would have been perfect example of this. Luna and Cho and others from Ravenclaw. Some Hufflepuffs and Neville and all the Gryffindors. The only problem are the Slytherins. But with Slughorn as the new Head of Slytherin, who's eager to get Harry as a trophy member, maybe things might change. And then their really would be unity of the houses.
