I just started reading Harry Potter for the first time, having missed the series for the past twelve years. When I mentioned this to a few of my friends, they encouraged me to keep a blog about what I think of the series, where I think the story is going, etc. As one of the last people I know to finally pick up the books, I'm really out-of-the-loop - and my predictions are evidently funny to people who know the story by heart. But I'm determined to read all 7 books, even if I am years late...

welcome.gif When you say that you missed the series these last 12 years does that include the films? If not, it's lucky for you; my dad just started reading the books, but he's already seen the films so he knows the major plot points and is really disappointed about that now. Eitherway...

Hope you enjoy your first reading, and any re-readings which may follow smile.gif

I saw each film once (I think). I say "I think", because I have almost no memory of them. I remember going to the theater, seeing people in full costume, and thinking "This is a pretty movie!" - but I have no idea what happened. Prime example: Tom Riddle being Voldermort? Caught me completely off guard as I read the second book. So yes, I've seen the films, but they aren't helping me much at all. Most of them I saw when they came out, and never again. I thought I would know where things were going - evidently, not.

I just had a look at your blog, highly amusing. I especially like your irritation with Dobby. I envy you, I'd love to be reading the books for the first time! It's very intriguing to see someone else going through the experience... Enjoy.

Well Jess I must say I diod enjoy your blog and I really loved your predictions. It's amazing what the mind comes up with while reading these things. As far as I can tell Chamber of Secrets is a hard book for most fans to read in the sense that it really isn't anyones favorite. However, you are in for the ride of your life from here on out. Enjoy and don't forget the tissues. You're gonna need them.

Hello bye.gif and welcome to the Lounge, JessJMC welcome.gif

The Lounge is a wonderful place to discuss all things HP and non-HP related, and I'm happy that you've found our friendly little nook, as suggested by all of the posts by our wonderful members in this very thread happy.gif

Since this topic is only discussing another Harry Potter blog site, and since promotion on the Lounge is against the rules, (see rule #4), I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. In addition, I've edited several of the posts here in order to remove the link to the blog site in question.

I know there are a lot of people out there who haven't read the books, but if you are going to start reading them, are in the process of doing so, or if you've read the books and want to share your experiences on how you first got hooked with the HP series, I encourage you to visit our very own thread here in the Parlor called How did you get into it?, How (and when) did you start reading Harry Potter?

I also recommend visiting the Great Wizarding Events forum, a great forum for discussing the various plots in the HP series smile.gif

If you have any questions, please PM a moderator anytime!

*Closing Thread*
