Ah, it's New Year's! Harry has just shown me some Muggle confetti. Turns out you have to throw it into the air yourself and it comes right back down again. Fascinating. I hear Muggles make resolutions just like wizards do! I'd love to hear more about yours. Please, tell me everything you're planning. Also-, can you tell me, what is the function of this paper horn?

Dearest Arthur,
It is indeed rumored that Muggles make resolutions. However, I know of no Muggles that take them seriously. It is my honest opinion that the "New Year's Resolutions" are merely an out-dated tradition and a gimic employed by Muggle shoppe owners to sell more "storage containers" and "exercise equipment" at the beginning of each new year, with the understanding that most Muggles resolve to lose weight and get organized.

CallMeSeverus

P.S. Though it has not been confirmed, I believe these "paper horns" of which you speak, are blown by Muggle party-goers to entice the more sober guests to partake in the various alcoholic beverages offered in order to "drown out" the noise. Let me know if you discover any other possible use.

I definitely want to spend more time on the lounge. I havn't been on for ages!

Also, being a rather gold-crazed Niffler, perhaps I should try to get over my shiny things addiction. From now on, I will never chase after gold and... OH MY GOD IT'S A SILVER WATCH!!!!!!!!! GIMMEE GIMMEE GIMMEE!!!!!

Hello Arthur,

The muggles have a variety of noise makers that are used for celebration especially New Years Eve. The purpose is to make as much noise as possible and not get into trouble for keeping their neighbors awake. party.gif It helps to have a few firewhiskeys first so they don't feel awkward putting a piece of paper in their mouths. rolleyes.gif

My major resolution is to shed enough of my natural introverted personality to have a great time at LeakyCon. I have never attended anything like it before and I am excited (and nervous) to meet all the wonderful people here on Leaky. Hope to see you there! wizard.gif

Arthur, here's something to go with your paper horn, another Muggle New Year's item: * hands Arthur a pair of those enormous "2009" glasses, in a vibrant shade of orange *

Wear them in good health and happiness! (Oh, and watch out for snakes.)

I've got two Muggle rsolutions - and one is easier than the other. One is too lose a little excess weight - not too much though! - and the other is to spend more time on the Lounge. I think the second one is easier than the first! type.gif
I really do try with with my resolutions and usually succeed so I'm between Hermione and the Twins lol.gif

On top of that I'll put a wish you do too! NO - actually I BELIEVE you do just that! And it'll be such a huge day for you when you've managed! I promise!

It's the first time really that I've made any resolutions at New Year's 'cause I've always known I wouldn't keep'em so why have any? So I've only promised things I know I can keep! that's easy! Success from get go.

Go blow one of those horns, Arthur! Gryf flag.gif

I usually don't make any New Year's resolutions simply because I never follow through with them. In the effort category, I fall into the one about how much effort Ron and Harry put into Divination, mainly because I just don't care. lol.gif I just really prefer to decide to do things at the time that they seem really important to me, not drag it out for the entire year. smile.gif
