There are two special characters born the end of July in the Potterverse. Harry, of course, is one, and the other is the late-blooming hero of the Battle of Hogwarts, Neville Longbottom. Neville is the subject of this fan art challenge: please post your original drawing of him here for comment and critique. A week after the art is posted here you may upload it to your TLC FanArt Gallery album and any other artsite hosting your work.
Neville ended up being such a sweet surprise at the end of the series . . . I am really looking forward to everyone's interpretation of the future Herbology Professor and Horcrux-killer! This post has been edited by Hagiographer13: Jul 6 2008, 02:11 PM -------------------- |

Neville, is what you call "AWESOME" lol. Although it took him seven books to actual do an amazing deed. Even though it was displayed in Book One when trying to prevent the trio from going to protect the Sorcerer's Stone. Nevilee finally showed his true Gryffindor colors when cutting off the head of Nagini in Deathly Hallows. I'm sure it shocked most people when we first read it. I know in my mind I was saying " Go Neville!Go!" He helped Harry defeat one of the horcruxes which makes him all the more of a hero.

i love neville! i always thought he was a sweet kid with a lot of potential...i think things started turning around for him once he got his own wand! he is certainly a hero, and i was so proud of him in Deathly Hallows...not just for killing nagini, which was SO awesome, but for being the leader of the resistance at Hogwarts while the trio was off on their horcrux shirt!

Just a reminder--this thread is for Fan Artists to post their new Neville artwork for discussion. Character-discussion is found in Notable Magical Names in the Flourish and Blotts book forum.

I'll not post the actual sketches here because I had put them up before I saw this, so it violates the terms of having them here for a week before they hit my portfolio, but Neville has always been my favorite character in Harry Potter, to the point where I actually wrote a full DH-parallel novel from his POV back at Hogwarts. I have quite a few sketches of him, and the links are below.

Those are all awesome, Thanfiction! Well-done!
However, this is a close second! And for pure artistic merit with an economy of line, this "quick sketch" of Neville and Nagini is truly a masterpiece!
Great work! -------------------- |
