With the release of a new Harry Potter film, it's time for a new poll. Did HBP become your new fav? Or is there another one that you still like best?
What makes it your favorite? Is it the actors? The script? The music? The cinematography? The costumes? What? -------------------- "That's why he fought. That's why he lived again, and that was the answer to Tam's question. I fight because last time, I failed. I fight because I want to fix what I did wrong. I want to do it right this time" -- Rand |

Half Blood Prince definately became my favourite film, although there are some things i would have improved, i loved it.
For starters Michael Gambons performance this time was much more credible as the Dumbledore in the books, and to be perfectly honest I though he embodied the kind spirit and wit of Dumbledore, whilst still coming across as the most powerful wizard ever - for once I saw why they cast him after Richard Harris. I also loved Helena Bonhem Carter as Bellatrix, she was simply AMAZING. I love her in several films, but she captured the whole entity of Bellatrix so perfectly in this film i was dumb struck. The Trio were also much better 6th time round - with Rupert giving giving a very convincing and humorous performance as Ron (Lavender was perfect too), Emma did great as Hermione too and I found her acting to be much stronger this time, particularly when she was dealing with the home Ron and Lavender thing. Dan too was great, and it was nice to see a more comical side to harry when he took the felix filicis. But it was not just the actors that did it for me, i found the whole thing to be utterly riveting all the way through. Oh Philosophers Stone is a close second btw, purely for the innocence of it |

PoA still takes the cake for me, but HBP is a very close second. Wow, Yates has done a good job, but Cuaron really captured the darkness, magic and emotionally-charged thing that was PoA, even without the Marauder's backstory. It's still a beautiful film to watch.

It's half-Blood Prince. Hands down, without a doubt. I was really worried as I drove to the theatre that I had built it up too much for myself, that it couldn't possibly live up to my expectations. Thankfully, I was wrong.
It more than delivered on everything. I think the best thing for me was that I had decided to stop worrying about any changes that were made, and just enjoy the movie for what it was. So I went in, knowing there were changes and omissions but not caring about them. After all, it's not up to me to worry about the next movie. It's the moviemakers' problem and everything that I felt needed to be in this one was there. It was absolutely the best yet. I can't even pinpoint what I liked most about it. The acting was universally fantastic, the cinematography was stunning, the flow of the movie was lovely, it was funny, sweet, romantic, dark and disturbing all in good measures. It just completely worked for me as a whole package. I read a review of it that said that it was a good movie in itself and not just as a Harry Potter adaptation, and I agree with that. I enjoyed it very much as something to watch, and not just for seeing Harry on screen. I've seen it twice already, and still want to see it again. I have never felt that way about one of these movies before. I usually fall for them after I get the DVD, but not this time. -------------------- |

I think "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" is by far the best movie yet even though its one of the saddest ones well besides when sirious died in "The Order of the Pheonix" but this is the only i cried in lol. but the filming, lighting, book accuracy and plot made it sooooo much better it was the best one yet.

The Half-Blood Prince is the best movie so far. It is so good, I didn't mind the differences from the book.

I think I have to agree with Mistressofthedarkarts, POA is still my favorite. I'd say OotP is a close second, so I guess HBP comes in third, but I'm not sure. Perhaps if I see it again I'll know for sure, but best I think it will get is 3rd place.

Order of the Phoenix. Ron finally acts like himself and not a Hogwarts clown, Hermione stopped stealing lines. Better acting, tight script and possibly the only HP movie that really got the essence of the story and did not leave out important stuff.
POA a close second (would be first if it weren't for ChickenRon and leaving out Marauders). This post has been edited by broomwitch: Jul 18 2009, 04:36 AM |

POA is still my favorite HP movie. It just gives Harry so much more information about his parents, it made him feel more connected to the wizarding world.
