Many HP fans note Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as their #1 favourite. Similarily, so do many of the FanArtists. This large, intense and in many ways very funny book has a bit of everything: suspense, intrigue, romance, love and murder! From a fan art perspective, what's not to love? So many sub-plots, not enough canvas to do them all justice!
The enigmatic character of Severus Snape is the eponymous figure in this book, and through his actions we are brought to the brink of discovery of his true nature, still hidden until his final moments in Deathly Hallows. Was Snape's fate ultimately sealed by his agreeing to make the "unbreakable vow?" This is shown here by the incomparable Makani --
The kiss that most of the fandom had been waiting for was finally realised in HBP. Here this fierce-yet-tender moment is realised by the one-and-only Marta, aka ArtDungeon --
The first battle at Hogwarts was not as epic as the one to come in DH, but was emotion-charged and offered several intriguing character insights. Here Featured FanArtist martintenbones has a poignant and unique take on "don't call me a coward!"
I don't think I am atypical when I admit I spent the last 100 or so pages of HBP in shock and tears.
There is such a wealth of amazing fan art from Half-Blood Prince in the TLC FanArt Gallery, hopefully I have whetted your appetite for more! So head on over to the gallery and be sure to come back and tell us what you like, hated, and found amazing. Here's to fan art and elf-made wine! -------------------- |

It is interesting to see that in this depiction of the Unbreakable Vow Snape took with Narcissa, that the incomparable Bellatrix is missing. It will be also interesting to see how this scene is depicted in the coming film. It truly is a dramatic and key scene, in which Bellatrix makes a gaffe about 'his most precious....' which also is a clue to the action in the remaining films that have to be made. -------------------- Check out the Beedle the Bard Book Club |

The irrepressible Makani has a whole page on her art-site about this chapter, with LOTS of Bellatrix included, here. I like her excuse for no Bella in that one particular image: "Bella is still a chameleon so.. that's why you can't see her." Our current Featured FanArtist, CrystallineColey, has an incredible vision of the "Silver & Opals" scene from HBP --
She is spot-on in her depiction of everyone's expressions of horror and dismay. -------------------- |
