Good point. And it did make him the sort of perfect Slytherin. He was pureblood, rich had a pureblood, rich girl friend. They would have been the perfect couple, in Slytherin's eyes.

As snobby as she seemed in the books-he was a pain in the butt, too. I actually kind of like her. I even attempted to make some romance and cuteness for the two in a music video form. Somebody's Baby Draco Pansy

Finally someone said what i was thinking as i read this...
He was never interested to begin with I don't think. So they were never really an item. Maybe to pansy they were, in her mind, but in truth they weren't. He spent most of HBP focused on the mission. WHo knows about the years before, maybe he was interest during GoF & Ootp, but i don't think he cared for her, in the way Harry did for Cho or Ginny or anyone else. More than anything it would have been out of convenience. Draco would have loved the attention and thats it. By HBP thats completely obvious. Also, i really don't like everyone after DH painting Draco as this hugely reformed hero. The trio save his life a few times and he still tries to kill them and then goes back to the death eaters screaming that he's still one of them. Draco did not "reform" as such. He like a true slytherin, saw where the tide was going in terms of Purebloodness and DE opinion, so he changed his opinions and his ways, but i don't think he changed his belief. Maybe he wasn't so crazy about Pureblood and mudblood stuff...but it was still there. He was still a bad guy, he just knew which side to be on this time around. -------------------- Albus Dumbledore: "Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy."
Tonks and Lupin, unleashing mutli-coloured werewolf puppies on the world one day at a time! Oh! Voldy, if Draco says no, can I babysit them? Please!!! |

I too thought Draco and Pansy would be together, but now i think they were almost a friends-with-benefits thing. I think she was crazy about him and he was all too willing to accept all the affection she showered him with even though he didnt feel that way about her.

I don't think he was this whole, "I'm a good guy who helps stray puppies and volunteers to pick up litter in my park" kinda guy after, but I think he was just a little more tolerable. Basically, he grew up. He knew he couldn't go through life being mean to everyone and waving his money around, I think his family still had lots of money, though. He knew that no one would back him up this time, he didn't have any followers. So basically, he made like a Slytherin and lay low. |

She ran away before the battle, isn't it? She probably went with the Slytherins back home instead of staying and fighting.
Probably they never met again, and I think that Draco never really loved her, neither she loved him. Someone should ask JK about it, really! -------------------- "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure." |

Draco was pretty much a loner except for his cronies. I think he just wanted to be surrounded by people, but ultimately he did everything himself.
