Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was the fifth book in the amazing Potter series and the one in which the artistic side of the fandom really started to come into its own. This angst-filled massive tome continues to inspire FanArtists to create fantastic art depicting the scenes and characters from the book. The Leaky Cauldron's incredible FanArt Gallery has tons of these wonderful homages to OotP.

Selene231's picture askance shows the painful attempts by Harry to catch Dumbledore's eye as Dumbledore defends him at the Ministry hearing.

The Order of the Phoenix, most notably the character of Tonks, really inspired the artists' imaginations. Here is Potter Artist's image of Fawkes, Kingsley, Tonks and Moody from the Order, here --

I would have to say one of my favourite FanArt pieces inspired by OotP is this one
by mudblood428 --

It truly is EXACTLY as I envisioned "Snape's Worst Memory." thumbup.gif

It's fantastic to see all the FanArtists' differing perspectives on Dumbledore's Army and the scenes at the Department of Mysteries. Here is Featured FanArtist SlytherinFiend's take on the DA at the DoM--

Jo Rowling said her favourite new character introduced in OotP was Luna, and the Fanartists agree. Here is a wonderful image of our favourite eccentric by Featured FanArtist ani_bester --

Take a trip down to the TLC FanArt Gallery (it's on level 9, next to the "Love Room") and check out the awesome "Phoenix" art--and be sure to return to give us your impressions--there is much there to impress! artist.gif

I have to agree that this picture is the one I like best. There is a suitably outraged Lily challenging James and Sirius, always the best of friends. But I also liked how both Lupin and Wormtail are presented, sitting to the right under the beech tree. Over in the background Harry is looking on, aghast.

But then, what about the other pictures? I really like that one of Harry and Dumbledore, especially as it does look like Dumbledore is trying to snub Harry. Or maybe looking on disapprovingly?

Although it is always great to see Neville, Ginny, Luna, Ron and Hermione supporting Harry, I think the other picture, of Luna riding a thestral, is the most evocative picture.

Yes I agree those are good pictures, which relate well to the story of Ootp. But why are angry girls or women always drawn wearing pleated skirts? It is something that has begun to bug me. Is there something about mood dressing which decrees that women who wear pleated skirts are not only full of moral indignation but also clad in it as well?

I'm not against schoolgirls wearing pleated skirts if that is what the school uniform dictates. They are easy for schoolgirls to wear, and provide freedom of movement. But really. In that picture of Lily telling off the Marauders, in particular, James Potter, Lily is the only schoolgirl present who is actually clad in a pleated skirt.

Just a thought. wink.gif

I liked the one with the three Order of the Phoenix members. It is good to get an idea of what they might look like. Though Fawkes looks like he needs fattening up.
