The largest, most-diverse, and just plain DENSEST book in the Potter series, Order of the Phoenix is also a virtual treasure-trove of fascinating characters, settings, and great moments, both funny and tragic, just begging to be turned into fantastic fan art!
We see the Twins finally hitting their stride and making a bid for freedom and enterprise --
Jo's favourite new character to the series is Luna, and she is popular in FanArt as well, with her quirky sensibilities and frank honesty.
The appearance of the prophecy, and the twisted path it will ultimately lead, is also a fascinating study in contrasts--light and dark, good and evil --
The ensuing battle in the Ministry of Magic makes for great reading, and amazing FanArt! Here Lupin defends Harry against Malfoy --
Take a turn (or two or more) around the TLC FanArt Gallery and see all the amazing art this incredible book has spawned. You can even search for, say, "thestral" and bring up all the images that the artists have thus tagged. Enjoy--and be sure and come back to tell us which are your favourites and why. -------------------- |

I say this about every book, but I think I really mean it this time when I say OotP has yielded some of my favorite fanart pics. They are just incredible.
Martintenbones is one of my favorite artists, and I am entranced by this one of Grimmauld Place emerging. ![]() Here in our gallery. The way the house appears to be inflating is just masterful, I can almost hear the popping noise! Another of my all time faves is this one, also by Martintenbones. ![]() Here in our Gallery. I love this scene anyway, but the incredible peace and stillness of Dumbledore contrasted with the blurred motion of an exploding Harry is just mesmerizing to me. I just sit and stare at it. Wow! I also really like this one by Sellene231. ![]() Here in our Gallery. So simple, but so heartbreaking, the moment Harry first got the inkling something was wrong. *sniff* And finally, one of the first pieces of fanart I ever saw from OotP, and still one of the best. ![]() By Artdungeon, here in our galleries. Harry looks so young here, sometimes I forget he is just a kid. There are some amazing works of art in our Gallery, do you have a favorite from Ootp? -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" The scene in the Veil Room, where Sirius leaves Harry forever, and Lupin tries to hold him back, is such a gut-wrenching, pivotal moment!
Glockgal hides Harry's face, but Remus' anguish is visually palpable --
Former Featured FanArtist Caladan show both characters at the nadir of despair --
So much emotion in a turn-of-phrase is shown in the scene, and by the merest touch of colour and light, the artist is able to crystallize that moment in a tear brought to the viewer's eye. *sniff* -------------------- |

I really like this black and white portrayal of several Order members by Tom Scribble. ![]() Here in our gallery. I have always been a fan of black and white, and this one is fabulous. I love the tiny Kreacher in the corner and the bright Crookshanks to balance on the other side. I also particularly like the appearance and body positioning of both Lupin and Sirius. They are so close to how I picture them in my mind. -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" Dumbledore-DH

Phoenix was such a massive book that it gave us so much to enjoy and contemplate, in terms of new characters and even creatures!
We meet a malevolent house-elf in Kreacher, wonderfully realised here by potterartist -- As a result of Voldemort's return in GoF, Harry (and the reader) can now see the thestrals, here by the incredible Makani -- The evil that is Dolores Umbridge gets short-shrift by the fan artists, but there are a few images of her, such as this one by glockgal -- Quite the opposite in terms of fan art popularity is the clumsy auror Nymphadora Tonks, one of my favourites being by Hito -- Are there any OotP FanArt images that just reach out and grab your attention? -------------------- |

"Weasley is out King" by Gold Seven is one of my favorite pieces of art. Ron looks very defeated after a Quidditch match:

I absolutely love this image of Harry and a vision of Sirius in the Hall of Prophecies by rnlaing --
The symbolism is quite striking, as it was love for Sirius that brought Harry to the DoM to try and save him . . . and the Prophecy states that it will be love ("the power the Dark Lord knows not") that saves Harry and defeats Voldemort. Stunning visual! -------------------- |

Stunning visual! I have always liked this one of Snape's Worst Memory by mudblood428. The look on Harry's face when he sees his parents when they were his age, and the look on Lily's face when she is about to chastise James and Sirius for their treatment of Snape. It also looks like Snape is about to say "mudblood" to Lily. It is all encapsulated perfectly. ![]() Here in the FanArt Gallery Also this one of the OoTP Sextet also by mudblood428, of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville and Luna is also good. ![]() Here in the FanArt Gallery This post has been edited by moony_lupin: Mar 23 2008, 10:39 AM -------------------- Siggie avatar by Hagiographer13 ![]() |
