Plotlines you could've lived without?, Were there any that you would have re-written?

Ok, so sometimes you just read something and you go - "Oh, uhm...riiight, yea don't really get that..."

If there were any plot lines I would have scratched it would definitely be the whole Harry being mad at Hermione for half of POA. I hated that. A chapter or two, yea, but I just really didn't like any of that

Harry? Don't you mean Ron?

Anyway, I disliked the character of Hugo Bagman on GoF. It was such a big red herring, but in the end that character was only used to setup Harry to give his prize for the twin's joke shop, something that could've been done on OotP.

i thought the escape from the bank on the dragon's back was done wrong.

the animal was squeezing through some very tight holes, enlarging them to get through,
with Harry & Ron & Hermione sitting on its back. it just seemed so - impossible.

granted, it's magic, but i like my magic to be somewhat logical. if they had cast spells
to help them hold on for a VERY wild ride, and spells to protect them from being squished,
it would have made more sense.

Whoops. blush.gif

See? Not even a good spot on my memory, that Bagman. Also, I would've enjoyed less of Umbridge and more screentime of the DA and the Order on OotP.

I think in OotP we could have used with a little more interaction between the Order and the Trio.

Absolutely! And mayble more Harry/Sirius/Lupin time... I know it's meant to convey just how unfair it is to both Harry and Siruis, but I think things could have been a bit easier.

I liked the riding on the dragon bit. Guess I was the only one.

Grawp. Sorry Grawp-fans, but I have still not quite understood why he was in the story in the first place. Completely superfluous, IMHO. I personally found the storyline annoying and boring.

It was certainly hard to read about the boys having fallouts with Hermione throughout a considerable part of PoA (although overall it wasn't that long, IMO, it just seems to us that way), but it was necessary for the characters' development and the development of their friendships for all of them to have quarrels and fallouts at one point or the other during the course of the series. People and relationships grow with overcoming them. And the trio did and turned out stronger in the end than before.

I loved the dragon bit too, so you're not the only one who enjoyed that part ShanksForte.

I could have lived without Grawp too though.
