Ok, this isn't HP, but...
Butterfly Dreams Brightly colored patterns, too pretty to belong, And earthy-toned designs, more difficult to spot, Each painting on a canvas, of different shape and size, All across the globe flit, that no eye is denied. Man's masterpiece in flight? Nay-- They are butterfly wings, our Mother's own art. Delicate miracles taunt inferior man. Curiosity, envy, greed, reach to touch, take, and own; Fair and frail is soiled, and vanish as a dream. Edit: Grr, it's not showing up in the format I want it to. But it's supposed to have the first line and then the next indented and it alternates like that (like imitating the shape of butterfly wings) except the stanza that breaks the pattern of the rest of the poem (the "man's masterpiece" part). nympheart that is so beautiful!
Question: where do you all find inspiration for your poems (if they're not HP related) ? *Edited once again for a stupid typo This post has been edited by Aquamarine: Sep 20 2006, 05:45 PM -------------------- "OI! There's a war going on here!"

QUOTE(Aquamarine @ Sep 20 2006, 10:44 PM) nympheart that is so beautiful! Question: where do you all find inspiration for your poems (if they're not HP related) ? *Edited once again for a stupid typo Actually, that's a really hard question to answer. I'm part of my school's poetry club and we would be given things to write a poem about. Like the first one we read a couple poems that used repetitions and wrote our own in the same format. Another time we were given pictures and told to write a poem about it (I liked the one I wrote for that one, it was cute, if I can find a picture like the one I wrote it about I'll post it). Once you do that for awhile you kind of start to see poetry in anything that sticks out in your mind. With me, I'll say it, people drive me nuts, sometimes I just feel that all people are idiots and they ruin their own lives as well as other people's as a result. So Butterfly Dreams started with the original idea of me trying to capture when you wake up from a dream and reach to grasp what you saw, but it vanishes as you grab for it and became colored by people destroying nature and simultaneously mankind's destruction of their own ideal world due to their own desire for it. What comes out in poetry is really the author's own thoughts and feelings and really leaves a lot of room for playing with it. -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" ![]() Thanks for the use of the Garden image tanyal33! |

This wasn't the photo I made this poem from, but you get the idea.
![]() Bathtime Obsessive compulsive mothers Find alien virtue in cleanliness; They place value in sterility Rather than natural beauty. "Mommy, Mommy, that's good, I'm done!" But not until she's washed behind his ears, And his fur is squeaky clean can he go. He will endure more unwanted attention-- Taunting from his playmates. But only until it's their bathtime, too. Note: When we were writing these poems from pictures we each wrote one from a picture we picked from the pile we were given and then switched. It was really interesting to see how each of us did something completely different with the same image. The girl who got this one wrote an awesome poem about sorrow "...tears run trenches from my eyes..." It was a really cool experiment. -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" ![]() Thanks for the use of the Garden image tanyal33! |

WOW Bloomlover and nympheart you guys have got some talent.
'snape is gonna get it' i dont doubt he will but would he have diserved it? it's too hard to tell it was dim witted what he did thats for sure how could he have killed a wizard such as Dumbledore it was either courage beyond recognition or madness what he did its strange how often they go together during a hero's or villain's bid fate is the consequence of the path we choose but i wonder did he choose the path or did the path choose him? anyway, its crunch time now, its sink or swim we will have to wait untill book seven to know what becomes of him. what do you guys think of my debut poem??? "...tears run trenches from my eyes..." sounds like i really good poem, sounds very deep. ask your friend if you or they could post it because i would love to read it. |

Futility
A raised wand, an uttered spell, Made to send its victim straight to Hell. You do not move, you do not look away, These words, created to allow you to stay. While your enemy crumples, searing pain, And still you stand, without a trace of shame, Nothing but hate in your dark heart. Somehow, suddenly, he rises, standing tall -- looks at you but in part, Lifts his own wand, crimson blood falling, Yells a taunt, and hits the ground crawling. You oblige him, you give it your all, But somewhere you must have dropped the ball. For no hex, spell or curse can harm The Boy who survived the deadliest charm. Written by me, of course... |
