I have to say it was Draco I voted for.

We did not know his whole story yet mind but looking at his character in this book alone he was truly disgusting to not just the Trio but to just about everyone who wasn't a Slytherin. It made me want to give him a really good slap around the face (fortunately Hermione did that a year later).

In a way I empathised with the charaters he bullied having been in a similar position myself. I think part of the reason I hated him so much (specially after multiple readings) was that I was aware how many fans liked him and I hated the idea of them immitating him.

----

With Tom Riddle being in the poll, I automatically assumed we all thought he was vile; we did not know until the end of the book that he was Voldemort mind, so of the characters we knew that's how I voted. It's a give about Voldemort: he's the iconic villian of the whole seires.

i voted for Tom Riddle, because he doesnt care about who gets hurt or dies in order for him to get his body back and after all, he IS LV!!!
i also voted for Lockheart because he just disgusted me in his awful fake manner and being so conceited and wanting to leave ginny behind.... just sickening.

so yeah those two..... i woud have voted for Lucius too, but i dont know those two just really stood out... however i hated Lucius for treating Dobby like that and for giving ginny the diary and all...

I voted Draco and Riddle.

Riddle does seem to be the main conspirator in the CoS plot, even if Lucius did start the whole diary business, he did it on Voldemorts orders.

And Draco because he's a brat

In this one book, Lockheart does more damage with his arrogance and ignorance than anyone else. Over and over again, he puts people'd lives at risk. We learn more about Riddle and Malfoy, but we already know they are bad news.

I had to vote for Gilderoy. The others at least were straightforward about who they were and what they wanted. Voldemort and Lucius openly espoused a terrible ideology....but they did so without pretense. And who was Draco but his father in miniature? Gilderoy, on the other hand, had all this false charm and bonhomie...when in reality he stole people's memories, lives, deeds, and reputations. And the charming man was going to obliviate Harry and Ron and leave Ginny for dead - not for any overriding goal except to maintain his own ego and image! Bwah! A pox upon him!

I totally agree with Phoenix_226 on Lucius and Riddle/LV. here's another one: Barty Crouch (jr). he endangered a lot of people not to mention Harry, and he even killed his own father, while everyone felt sorry for his supposed innocent death at Azkaban.

Barty Crouch Jr only appears in GoF and we are talking about CoS now ickle_snuffles 23. You will surely get the chance to vote for him when we discuss GoF. biggrin.gif

I eliminated Riddle from the cast for consideration, because, through the series, he is Evil Incarnate.

The next person on the list is Lucius Malfoy.

i chose lockhart only because i dislike people who are waaay to full of themselves. he also does more harm than good

but riddle would be the obvious answer because he doesn't care who he hurts on his way to his return to power.
