The most popular moment in last month's OotP poll was the time when Fred and George left Hogwarts, right under Umbridge's nose, telling the students where to get their supplies to not only continue advancing their Weasley Wizard Wheezes business but also to continue the rebellion against the likes of Dolores Umbridge and her authoritarian style of Ministry leadership.

But now it is the next academic year. Fred and George are no longer present through much of the book. And yet there are some funny and most delightful moments, which may or may not be in the films. Please let us know which of these moments were your favourites, and why. What moments did you really dislike?

What do you think of the characters in this sixth part of the Harry Potter saga? How did you feel about Horace Slughorn? And what do you think of the characters met through Dumbledore's memories or on top of the Lightning Struck Tower?

Let us know which moments and characters you voted for and why.

There are many funny moments in HBP, which was surprising without fred and george. But I loved the bit where ron drinks the love potion, great humour there. I also voted for something else, because I think you missed the Harry/Ginny Kiss in the poll, which for me was my favourite part of the whole book, I was so happy when it finally happened.

The worst parts for me were draco and harry on the train, sectumsepra and of course dumbledore's death. I was ni a state of shock for a few days afterwards I couldnt believe he died.

As for new favourite characters, I voted for Bill, and I disliked Greyback, and Bellatrix(obviously).

Gotta o go with Spinners End, cause it really made you question Snape's motives. I loved the cave because for the first time we really see Harry in control as opposed to Dumbledore. And of course one of my favorite scenes is lightning struck tower, just because of the shock of snape killing dumbledore.

I will admit it, my favorite parts were the smaller, comic relief scenes because the bigger scenes were so dark and overwhelming. They needed to be there, don't get me wrong, but I needed to laugh.
Dumbledore meeting the Dursleys - the part where the drinks were knocking the Dursleys in the head had me in stitches.
Weasley Wizard Wheezes - hearing Fred and George called "Mr. Weasley and Mr. Weasley" was priceless.
McGonagall's offer to write to Neville's grandmother and tell her that even though she (Neville's grandmother) had failed her O.W.L. in charms it did not make it a useless subject and that she should be proud of her grandson. I love it when we get a glimpse of McGonagall's heart under that stern bearing.
Hermione reconciling with Ron. Oh yes, I was a Ron/Hermione shipper all along and was waiting impatiently for them to catch up!
Worst parts:
Draco catching Harry on the Hogwart's Express. I absolutely hated it when he immobilized Harry and broke his nose. I still skip that part. Very disturbing to me.
Ron and Hermione not getting on board with Harry about Draco being a death eater. He's too young blah, blah, blah. Tom Riddle was what? 16 when he killed his father and grandparents? Yeah, he puts a lot of store in age.
The Slytherin Quidditch game. Believe it or not I was most upset with Madam Hooch for not seeing what was going on. I used to be a teacher and nothing mad me angrier than when other teachers ignored or didn't see the bullies. They do such damage!

I loved to hate Bellatrix - what a great evil character!
And didn't you just want to imperio Cormac and make him go away?

Have to agree. My favourite moments included visiting Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes, not to mention Ron being under the influence of love potion.

My least favourite moments included the many incidents when Hermione and Ron chose to disbelieve Harry's assertion that Draco was a DE. For heaven's sake! Draco was as nearly of age as Harry, himself was, and I'm sure that Harry was right about Draco. Wasn't he often accurate?

I've got to say that I think "Spinner's End" is one of JKR's best. pieces. of. writing. ever. I just get goosebumps reading it (and I've read it too many times already! blush.gif )

JKR manages to create such an atmosphere: Narcissa in distress, running through the night with Bellatrix right behind her; the sad, unused feeling of Spinner's End; meeting a sneaking Wormtail as he tries to spy behind the scenes. I particularly love how Bellatrix poses all the questions that we, the readers, had ourselves been wondering about Severus...and don't we see Severus in his finest form? He's several chess moves ahead of the whole game (and his dry, sarcastic humor had me grinning! Don't you just love how he derides Bellatrix's over-the-top loyalty with declaring her incarceration in Azkaban to be "a fine gesture"? bleh.gif ) And ending with that Unbreakable Vow....who saw a way for Severus out of that one? The plotting and the characterization of this chapter really makes HBP for me, and it's the chapter I still love the most! heart.gif

Although HBP isn't ,my favourite, I did love certain parts of it as nothing else. The Harry-Snape faceoffs were something particularly good. 'You don't have to call me "Sir", Professor' is one such moment. biggrin.gif

Snape and Bellatrix having a go at each other was a great scene. Snspe goading Belltrix subtly but surely was so smooth and silky, he was so entirely reasonable and calm while Bellatrix appeared quite demented with rage. tsk Tsk. Bellatrix may have been voldemort's best lieutenant, but she was no match for Severus Snape. tongue.gif

Luna was hysterical with her conspiracy theories at Slughorn's party. Gum disease and what-not ! lol.gif And the scene where Hermione tries to evade MacLaggen is simply marvellous.

The other scene I love is the cave scene. I've always wanted to see Dumbedore and Harry have some adventure together and what an adevnture it was ! Ghastly end to it, but it was utterly spine-chilling from start to finish. The atmosphere inside the cave was so eerie that I still have goosebumps whenever I read it.
Jo is a genius ! heart.gif

I disliked Hermione and Ron not believing Harry on his theories about Draco. They were incrediblty stupid and so was Harry in the train when he just assumed that Draco was stupid and got caught unawares.

I liked how Fleur turned out and also liked slughorn even though he was a weak and vacillating pineapple fancier. There was quiet a bit of good in him even though it was hard to make out at first glance.
The characters I disliked were the Carrows, Rufus Scrimgeour (though not particularly) and most of all, Greyback - he was totally revolting ! eek.gif

I like the beginning of the book where the 2 ministers meet! I like how it's written because it's funny and serious at the same time, and I just like the idea of the muggle prime minister seeing his magical counterpart appear. I also like meeting Horace Slughorn, there's a lot of suspense and you don't really know what's going on at first, and there are some funny scenes as well.
I hate Bellatrix and Fenrir! Fenrir especially is evil for the sake of it. Some people just get caught up in the wrong politics and think they're acting for the greater good but Fenrir takes plesure in what he does.

I love the Spinners'End scene because it's so Snapeian! We get to see how delicately he has to maneuver himself in order to stay believable as a Death Eater to Death Eaters. I enjoyed the balancing act he did between the two sisters; he was compassionate to Narcissa, while sardonic to Bellatrix. We see how difficult it was for him to make that Unbreakable Vow to Narcissa, even as it makes his position more believable with Bellatrix.

I have three favorite funny scenes. Two are with Ron and Harry: of course, the love potion one; but I also love the Christmas present opening scene (in fact, I keep my bookmark in this one). I have to laugh aloud at the very idea Lavender thought it an appropriate gift to get Ron a gold necklace with the words "My Sweetheart" in big gold letters. I love that Harry recommends Ron wear it in front of Fred and George! I enjoy their interaction after Harry opens his 'gift' from Kreacher--a large bunch of maggots--Ron says, "Very thoughtful", to which Harry replies, "I'd rather have them than that necklace," which shuts Ron up!

I also love Aragog's funeral. Drunken Hagrid and Slughorn singing about Oddo just tickles me.

Great book! Snape's my favorite character, and I love how much more of him we get, even indirectly about the Half-Blood Prince.

My favorite scene in the book (and the movie, mostly) was on top of the lightning - struck tower with Draco and Dumbledore. I loved that scene, and I wish the Death Eaters hadn't come in..
I also enjoyed the scene between Draco and Harry in the bathroom. I felt so bad when Harry used Sectumsempra, though!
I loved the part where Harry takes Luna to the party! Especially when she asks if she should dye her eyebrow to match his! Luna will always be an interesting date, with her theories and whatnot.
Spinner's End was another scene that was very suspenseful; I liked it too. Mostly because of Bellatrix.

Of course Dumbledore's death was very sad. sad.gif I also don't understand why Ron and Hermione were so opposed to the thought of Draco being a Death Eater! Some of the Pensieve memories sort of dragged at times, but other than that, there were many more scenes that I liked than disliked.

I love Luna, Draco, and Bellatrix as always, but I really liked Ron in this book! He was funny when he was dating Lavender smile.gif

I hated Fenrir Greyback! He seemed so scary in the book. I also didn't like the Gaunt family, excluding Merope.
