I enjoy using IRC. [21:16] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Hi future and skip! [21:16] <futureweasley> hi there! [21:16] *** CedrellaBlack has joined #lounge [21:16] <Theoriser> We will be starting the discussion in a few minutes. You’re not going to be able to type for a few minutes while we make some announcements, please bear with us, you’ll be able to type again soon. [21:16] <Theoriser> There may be times during the chat when a moderator will want to PM something to you. Please keep an eye on the top of your screen, right next to the button with #Lounge on it. A button will appear with one of the mods' names on it. If you see that appear, click on it to see the PM that has been sent to you by that mod [21:16] <Theoriser> You won’t be able to reply to that PM, but if you could just say something like "Sooner, got it” in the main chat, to let us know that you have seen it, that will be great. We'd also like to remind you that the rules of the Lounge also apply here in the Corner Booth, and may be found here: http://www.leakylounge.com/?act=rules[/b [21:17] <Theoriser> If you need to contact us during the chat, send one, or all, of us a PM on the Lounge. We will be checking them regularly, but if we haven't replied after a little while then please let us know here that you have sent a PM. Thanks for your cooperation! [21:17] <Theoriser> While its easy to drift off in various directions, let's all try to have a fun chat by sticking to the topic for today. OK, moving on to the topic for the chat! [21:17] <fawkes28> New photos from the Order of the Phoenix set were available including one of the writing on the back of Harry's hand. Were you surprised to see, "I will not break rules" rather than "I will not tell lies"? [21:18] <JaneMarple9> It does seem a little strange to change the wording [21:18] <Theoriser> I haven't seen these pictures yet [21:18] <Skiplives> Personally I think it is a weaker line [21:18] <fawkes28> i think i rather have the book version [21:18] <futureweasley> I think it's kind of important to the audience that we realize that Umbridge's problem with Harrry is that he's LYING [21:18] <fawkes28> yes, skip it is weaker [21:18] <cbm> Yes, it was very strange, I could see no reason for it. [21:18] <JaneMarple9> And me Fawkes [21:18] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Yes! "I will not tell lies" represents Harry's struggle with the ministry [21:18] <Skiplives> but it s probably harder to build the "1984" feel that the book does [21:18] <fawkes28> i don't see any reason for it needing to be changed [21:18] <JaneMarple9> it's only one letter less after all [21:19] <futureweasley> Me either...I think it's kind of a wacky change [21:19] <fawkes28> right, jane [21:19] <Ravenclaws_Heir> True, but the "1984" feeling is so important to the book that I really hope they keep it in the movie, skip [21:19] <Skiplives> I think Umbridge is being played as a "lawful evil" stereotype rather than the more complex politico that she is in the book [21:19] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Oh I hope noe! [21:19] <Ravenclaws_Heir> **not [21:19] <futureweasley> they have to keep that "tension" feeling...that is the basis of the book! [21:20] <JaneMarple9> "I must not tell lies" sounds much more sensible than the other [21:20] <Ravenclaws_Heir> exactly! [21:20] <fawkes28> and jo knew what she was doing when she wrote the book [21:20] <fawkes28> why not take what the author wrote [21:20] <futureweasley> exactly fawkes [21:20] <Skiplives> I really think we're getting more "The Wall" then "1984" [21:21] <cbm> To me the hand picture did not look very well done, so maybe it is not the final version. We will not know for sure until the movie is out. [21:21] <futureweasley> LOL Skip... [21:21] <JaneMarple9> "I will not break rules" sounds a little babyish and childish to me [21:21] <futureweasley> "hello? Is there anybody in there?" [21:21] <Skiplives> "How can get any pudding when you won't eat your meat?" [21:21] <fawkes28> i hope it's not the final version, cbm [21:21] * JaneMarple9 waves at Future frantically :) [21:21] <fawkes28> right, jane [21:21] <Ravenclaws_Heir> oooh, I hope! [21:21] <Theoriser> I'm not sure if I agree with the way they changed the wording, but I guess we'll have to see the film to be sure [21:21] *** CedrellaBlack left #lounge [] [21:21] <fawkes28> hi ced [21:21] *** Skiplives has quit [Bye] [21:22] *** Skiplives has joined #lounge [21:22] <fawkes28> OotP movie set reports from the Lexicon and the Leaky Mug that were released last week. These are the first wave, with the rest of their reports coming out in July 2007. Have you had a chance to read Steve's or to listen to the LeakyMuggers' report? [21:22] <JaneMarple9> yes perhaps they'll see sense and use the proper words [21:22] <futureweasley> I got to do both...because I'm a nerd like that [21:22] <fawkes28> i have read steve's and it was great [21:22] <Skiplives> LoL [21:22] <JaneMarple9> not yet, only just getting used to Pottercast [21:22] <Theoriser> I listened to the leakymug podcast, but haven't read Steve's report yet [21:22] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I listened to the leakymug [21:22] <Skiplives> I loved John's reaction on the Leaky [21:23] <Theoriser> I was glad that they talked about Azkaban, like they'd been hinting at for a while [21:23] <Ravenclaws_Heir> yes! [21:23] <futureweasley> he's pretty zany...I love to hear all of their reactions [21:23] <futureweasley> brb [21:23] <Ravenclaws_Heir> how do you guys feel about Azkaban being on a waterfall? [21:23] <Skiplives> I just meant the scream at the beginning [21:23] <fawkes28> it is so exciting that they go to go to the set and "report" back to us [21:23] <Theoriser> it's strange, it was meant to be in the sea [21:24] <Skiplives> the cinematographer won [21:24] <Skiplives> :) [21:24] <Theoriser> on an island in the sea, I mean [21:24] <Ravenclaws_Heir> That was my thought, theoriser [21:24] <Skiplives> It is supposed to be in the North Sea [21:24] <Theoriser> at least it's got water around it still! [21:24] <Skiplives> I think they just wanted to make eye candy [21:24] <Theoriser> and not fire or something ridiculous [21:24] <fawkes28> maybe they need us to go help them out on the set [21:25] <JaneMarple9> ah we see azkaban in film five? I always imagined it on a island [21:25] <futureweasley> I equate waterfalls with beauty...so Azkaban being on one is going to be very strange to me [21:25] *** jammi567 has joined #lounge [21:25] <Ravenclaws_Heir> And they brought up a good point (im' not sure if this was mugglecast or leaky mug) how did Sirius escape if its a waterfall not an ocean? [21:25] <fawkes28> exactly , future [21:25] *** jammi567 has quit [Bye] [21:25] <futureweasley> however, it might be an astetically beautiful place, but it's the dementors that make it so horrible [21:26] <fawkes28> Sue specifically mentioned the Black family tree which Steve, Melissa, John, and Andrew saw on their visits to the OotP movie set. It covered entire walls and even included places for pictures of the people it represented. What are some reasons you think that the family tree might have been made that big? [21:26] <Skiplives> It is an old tree [21:26] <JaneMarple9> yes waterfalls are more of a feature. I can't see a Prision floating on top :) [21:26] *** KimmyBlair has joined #lounge [21:26] <fawkes28> hi kimmy [21:26] <futureweasley> hiya Kimmy [21:26] <Skiplives> Hi Kimmy [21:26] <JaneMarple9> hmm obviously the Black family goes way back [21:26] <KimmyBlair> hello... sorry i'm late! [21:26] <JaneMarple9> hi there Kimmy [21:27] <fawkes28> i find the black family tree fascinating [21:27] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Hmmm, I don't know. Is it possible that they talked to Jo and she said it should be that big? I mean, it doesn't really match the description in the book but... [21:27] <Theoriser> hi Kimmy [21:27] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Hi Kimmy! [21:27] <Skiplives> Plus if Jo did all that work (and I'm sure she did), why not share? [21:27] <fawkes28> kimmy, we are talking about the Black family tree and why we think it was made so big [21:27] <KimmyBlair> ahhh [21:27] <Theoriser> to make it look more impressive and interesting for a film, I think [21:27] <JaneMarple9> I wish the films would stick more to the books! :( [21:27] <futureweasley> exactly Skip...I want to see everything I can see...so the bigger the better [21:27] <Skiplives> It's a little fan service of the HP kind [21:27] <cbm> I think that it is an important family relic and it was supposed to be BIG [21:28] <fawkes28> probably, theoriser [21:28] <futureweasley> I agree cbm...I always pictured it in my mind to be enormous [21:28] <KimmyBlair> I think that there is a lot of back story in it... we have already seen many different members referenced elsewhere [21:28] <Skiplives> I actually pictured it as a tapestry - it is old. [21:28] <fawkes28> i believe steve said in his report that all of the dates were on it, which must have been fascinating [21:28] <JaneMarple9> yeah, I see it as a ta[estry too [21:29] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Agreed, Kimmy and it is the tree that gave us RAB [21:29] <futureweasley> I hope there's TONS of backstory on it!! I would really love a "between the lines" type book [21:29] <cbm> I thought it filled a wall, so it's size depended on the size of the wall [21:29] <fawkes28> right, it probably serves as a reminder how many of the pure blood wizards are all connected together [21:29] <Ravenclaws_Heir> right, fawkes [21:29] <KimmyBlair> also i think the size of it shows us how proud the Blacks are [21:29] <fawkes28> like how the malfoys relate to the blacks, which i wonder if they will bring that up in the movie [21:29] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I hope! [21:29] <Skiplives> It makes sense that it filled a wall, the original purpose of a tapestry was to hold some heat in. [21:30] <fawkes28> Did you see the sketches of Grawp and the thestrals? Were these what you had imaged? [21:30] <futureweasley> Grawp was UGLY! Bleck [21:30] <KimmyBlair> Grawp more so than the thestrals [21:31] <futureweasley> and no, not at all what I imagined [21:31] <KimmyBlair> i beleive we need to see the thestrals animated to really get the picture of them [21:31] <JaneMarple9> Not seen Grawp yet but I imagine he's not a pretty sight [21:31] <JaneMarple9> The Thestals should be good [21:31] <futureweasley> I think so too Kimmy...the Thestrals are so odd anyway...I can't wait to see them with the effects [21:31] <Theoriser> ooh I haven't seen all of these yet [21:31] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Hmm, I liked Grawp but he really wasn't what I imajined. I agree with Kimmy that we have to see the thestrals animated before we can really pass a judgement on them. [21:31] <Theoriser> I really should [21:31] <futureweasley> oooh, are we spoiling?! [21:32] <Ravenclaws_Heir> **Imagined [21:32] <fawkes28> right it is hard to tell out of the context of the movie [21:32] <KimmyBlair> grap was big and giant like... [21:32] <KimmyBlair> i dont' have many expectations other than that [21:32] <JaneMarple9> spoil away future :D [21:32] <Ravenclaws_Heir> lol kimmy [21:32] *** RitaSkeeter27 has joined #lounge [21:32] <fawkes28> lol kimmy [21:33] <fawkes28> hello rita [21:33] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Hi Rita [21:33] <RitaSkeeter27> hey everyone! [21:33] <futureweasley> did you see the size of his nostrals? Imagine the bogeys...yuck [21:33] <KimmyBlair> HAHAH [21:33] <RitaSkeeter27> grawp? [21:33] <Ravenclaws_Heir> lol [21:33] <fawkes28> yes [21:33] <KimmyBlair> yes Rita... [21:33] <Ravenclaws_Heir> yeah, we are talking about grawp and the thestrals [21:33] <RitaSkeeter27> cool, very good [21:34] <Ravenclaws_Heir> And the movie images of them that we saw ion the HBO [21:34] <cbm> LoL, I wonder what would happen if Ginny hit him with a bat bogey hex? [21:34] <Theoriser> LOL [21:34] <Ravenclaws_Heir> hehe [21:34] <fawkes28> Daniel Radcliff recently said, "David Yates was an inspired director who I would walk on hot coals to work with again." Dan has obviously spent the most time (of any of the actors) with each of these directors during filming. Yates is mainly a tv director. Did Dan's comments make you more excited, hopeful, etc. for the release of Movie Five? [21:34] <JaneMarple9> eek.......not a pretty thought! [21:34] <futureweasley> cbm...nothing good...maybe a Snape-sized bat would immerge (hint, hint) [21:34] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Yes! It made me very excited! [21:34] <fawkes28> yes, i was definitely more excited [21:34] <RitaSkeeter27> most definately [21:35] <JaneMarple9> more hopeful. It sounds as if the new movie is going to be very good [21:35] <fawkes28> i think that is a pretty bold statement to make and i don't think he would use it casually [21:35] <futureweasley> I love this particular quote...it makes me think that Dan has been more "challenged" this time around [21:35] <cbm> Yes, it is always a great thing when the actors like their directors! [21:35] <JaneMarple9> sounds as if Dan respects the director [21:35] <futureweasley> Character probing and what not [21:35] <fawkes28> right, future, it seems important to dan for him to grow as an actor [21:35] <KimmyBlair> See with every dirctor the cast talks about how wonderful they are [21:35] <RitaSkeeter27> im definately looking foreward more to CAPSLOCK harry. I think it sounds like he would be able to pull it off better [21:36] <KimmyBlair> i'm begining to no longer take their oppinion very seriously [21:36] <Skiplives> Well this script should push him more than in the past [21:36] <futureweasley> lol Kimmy...really? [21:36] <RitaSkeeter27> that is a good point Kimmy [21:36] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Yes, I mean if you look at Dan in SS and they in GoF, there is a huge difference. In SS, there are obvious flaws in his acting but in GoF he is so much better! To think that he has grown even more in OotP is really exciting! [21:36] <cbm> Kimmy is right, they do say nice things about every director, never thought about that [21:36] <futureweasley> well, as they are growing, I see their needs as actors growing too...I think David Yates "fed" them [21:36] <Ravenclaws_Heir> true, kimmy [21:36] <fawkes28> i agree, ravenclaw [21:36] <Theoriser> David Yates gets a lot of praise from everyone right now, but every director does when they're making the film [21:37] <fawkes28> hopefullly, it will hold true when it finally comes out :) [21:37] <Skiplives> They have to right up to the press push, after that ... [21:37] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Yates has gotten more praise than other directors, I think [21:37] <futureweasley> For Emma to say that "David Yates helped me find truth"...that's a huge statement as well [21:37] <Ravenclaws_Heir> yes! [21:37] <futureweasley> and I don't think that's just coming from "actors" [21:37] <RitaSkeeter27> they almost seem more sincere this time around with Yates [21:37] <futureweasley> I agree Rita [21:38] <Skiplives> I'm sure they are really enjoying themselves [21:38] <Ravenclaws_Heir> agreed, Ritat [21:38] <Ravenclaws_Heir> **Rita [21:38] <fawkes28> Now on to Canon Conundrums. Have you seen the old Jo Rowling and Stephen Fry interview where Jo mentions "snake-lore" being important in Book Seven? If you were Voldemort and trying to decide what to use as your six horcruxes, what are some reasons you may or may not choose to use a snake like Nagini? [21:38] <futureweasley> OK guys, I'm at work, so I have got to bounce. Nice chatting, and I'll talk to y'all soon! [21:38] <Skiplives> the Trio is getting a unique education in acting, they work with some of the best actors in Britan. [21:38] <KimmyBlair> I just looked it up after listening to the Cannon Conundrums [21:38] <KimmyBlair> bye future [21:38] <fawkes28> bye future [21:38] *** futureweasley has quit [Bye] [21:38] <JaneMarple9> well Voldie is the closest to Nagini I think [21:39] <JaneMarple9> bit risky if he is using her as a horcrux [21:39] <KimmyBlair> A snake is mortal... therefore can be killed.... to risky [21:39] <fawkes28> i keep meaning to watch this interview because it sounds interesting [21:39] <Skiplives> Well, animals die, objects do not, so a horcrux in a living vessel is inherently unstable [21:40] <fawkes28> right, kimmy, i would think it would be pretty risky to use a live thing as the horcrux [21:40] <cbm> Maybe he also did a spell to Nagini to extend her life also. Or there is an object in Nagini that is the Horcrux. Or he thinks that the other 5 are enough. [21:40] <KimmyBlair> exactly Skip (and much better phrased!) [21:40] <fawkes28> very good point, skip [21:40] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I don't think I've seen it, Voldemort would not have liked the idea of his horicrux being mortal but he would have loved the snake link to slytherin. [21:40] <Ravenclaws_Heir> good point cbm [21:40] <Theoriser> unless you can take a horcrux out of something and put it in another object [21:40] <RitaSkeeter27> ive always thought that harry would have to find the last horcrux instead of DD telling him [21:41] <Skiplives> I would love to see Harry strike at LV in the end fight, miss, have LV gloat and Harry point out that he got what he aimed at - Nagini [21:41] <Theoriser> or maybe Nagini has a longer lifespan than Voldemort would [21:41] <RitaSkeeter27> my bet is that its not Nagini [21:41] <fawkes28> and Dumbledore may not be right [21:41] <fawkes28> i think it would be foolish of LV to make Nagini a horcrux because of all the reasons we stated [21:41] <Skiplives> Or maybe I've just seen "Howl's Moving Castle" [21:42] <fawkes28> but you just never know maybe LV knows something we don't know [21:42] <RitaSkeeter27> it may be problematic if he decides to zap the snake during the same battle with voldy and they find out its not a horcux [21:42] <Theoriser> lol Skip [21:42] <Skiplives> :) [21:42] <cbm> but it is magic, and maybe nagini is protected from death also. I expect it to be a Horcrux. [21:42] <Skiplives> agreed Rita, but he may not have a choice in the matter [21:43] <JaneMarple9> maybe so cbm [21:43] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Is there a spell that could have a snake immortal though? [21:43] <RitaSkeeter27> i doubt it [21:43] <RitaSkeeter27> well.... [21:43] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I mean, I doubt you could make a snake a horicrx [21:43] <fawkes28> Do you think other snakes will be important in Book Seven or just Nagini and snake-like Voldemort? [21:43] <Skiplives> It might give the snake a longer life, but if making somthing a horcrux made you immortal, LV would have amde himself a horcrux for someone else [21:43] *** Books_4_eva has joined #lounge [21:44] <fawkes28> hi books [21:44] <KimmyBlair> I agree that the Parseltounge skill will be important [21:44] <Books_4_eva> hi [21:44] <Theoriser> I think there could be other snakes, I don't think it just has to involve nagini [21:44] <Skiplives> Agreed Kimmy [21:44] <fawkes28> especially after jo's interview with snake lore, i think they will play an important role [21:44] <Ravenclaws_Heir> They brought up a good point on PotterCast, that the Heir of Slytherin might have a special power over all snakes, not just the one in the chamber. [21:44] <JaneMarple9> oh yes Parseltongue is going to be massive [21:44] <KimmyBlair> this is true Ravenclaw [21:44] <fawkes28> it is like harry is an equal with voldemort because he can speak the same language that he can [21:45] <cbm> Good question. [22:18] <Skiplives> LOL [22:18] <Books_4_eva> hehe [22:18] <Val_Halla> Yeah, well, he did make the CoS and leave a basilisk in it [22:18] <Skiplives> I doubt he was ever really friendly [22:18] <Ravenclaws_Heir> lol [22:18] <fawkes28> but we don't know that he intended for it to kill anyone [22:18] <Skiplives> but emo doesn't mean evil [22:18] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Oh wow sorry, I did not see that the topic had changed away from slythering [22:18] <KimmyBlair> yeah the whole ridding the school of mudbloods thing... [22:19] <fawkes28> no problem :) [22:19] <Val_Halla> LOL waht a litlle petrifying between friends [22:19] <Books_4_eva> oh you never know. Just because he had different ideas that many people would see as wrong dosn't determan a persons personality [22:19] <Val_Halla> *what's a little [22:19] <fawkes28> Prior to Voldemort's rebirth in Book 4 he was using Nagini's milk (venom) to help keep himself alive. In Book 5, he appears to have possessed or mind-controlled Nagini to enter the Ministry of Magic. Voldemort still looks like a snake. Why is that? Does Voldemort have any snake blood in him now? What kind of residual effects have Voldemort and Nagini's interactions left on each other? [22:19] <KimmyBlair> i totally do not have any answers for this [22:20] <Theoriser> that's very interesting, that Voldemort looked more like a snake when he began to split his soul [22:20] *** harrypotterfan123 has joined #lounge [22:20] <harrypotterfan123> hey guys what's up? [22:20] <Theoriser> I wonder why he started to look like a snake? [22:20] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Hi Harry! [22:20] <Skiplives> Actually he was "milking" Nagini, I don't think that Ms. Rowling ever used the noun, just the verb [22:20] <fawkes28> hi hpfan [22:20] <cbm> no ideas, maybe Voldemort looks like a snake because he made Nagini a Horcrux [22:20] <Theoriser> hi harrypotterfan123, we're talking about the Canon Conundrums from PotterCast #65 [22:20] <Val_Halla> Well, I was always under the impression that LV also tried other experiments on himself besides Horcruxes [22:20] <harrypotterfan123> i loved johns comment about a snake wearing a sock [22:20] <KimmyBlair> Harry mentions seeing him start transforming in the pensive... after his first (or so) horcruxes had been created [22:21] <harrypotterfan123> that was my favortie part about this PC lol [22:21] <fawkes28> i think he looks like a snake because his soul is so split and broken...he has become nonhuman [22:21] <KimmyBlair> I agree Val... the change in apperance may of had to do with one of the other things Voldie tried [22:21] <harrypotterfan123> yeah fawkes [22:21] <Skiplives> that or the mating rituals of snakes? [22:21] <Books_4_eva> I think it's just to show how he has broken away from being human... the best way to show it would be as a snake and it kind of fits his personality [22:21] <KimmyBlair> but why a snake Fawkes... why not another form [22:21] <Skiplives> Right, he is a cold killer [22:22] <Skiplives> it fits his personality [22:22] <fawkes28> i guess because the snake seems to represents evil in this series [22:22] <KimmyBlair> good point (i'm just asking questions here...) [22:22] <Val_Halla> When LV returned in GoF he told the DE's that "one or other" of his experiments must have worked [22:22] <fawkes28> :) [22:22] <fawkes28> or maybe he wanted to be snake-like and took some measures to ensure that [22:23] *** JaneMarple9 has joined #lounge [22:23] <Theoriser> good idea, fawkes [22:23] <KimmyBlair> I'm thinking perhaps some of his efforts invovled snakes [22:23] <harrypotterfan123> i think putting his horcruxes in the snake made him look like 1, and i think it was planned that way [22:23] <Skiplives> I don't know that snakes are necessarily "evil", just the "dark side" of magic, though we could talk about that alone for hours [22:23] <KimmyBlair> but for the life of me have no ideas why [22:23] <Val_Halla> me too, Kimmy [22:23] <harrypotterfan123> i think it would appeal to voldy to look like a snake [22:23] <fawkes28> true, skip [22:23] <fawkes28> In Book 5 Harry saw through the eyes of the snake in the Ministry of Magic. Later back in the Ministry, when Voldemort possessed Harry, he felt like he was in the clutches of a snake and he felt great pain. Why is this? Quirrell didn't feel pain when he was sharing a body with Voldemort. How are these two possessions different? [22:24] <KimmyBlair> Love... [22:24] *** JaneMarple9 has quit [Bye] [22:24] <harrypotterfan123> they are different.. hmmm i dunno [22:24] <Books_4_eva> love people, love [22:24] <Val_Halla> Quirrell was willing [22:24] <Skiplives> yea, Harry and LV are not compatible bodies [22:24] <Skiplives> or souls [22:24] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Well, I think Voldemort was intending to cause Harry pain when he was in the Ministry [22:24] <KimmyBlair> also the choices of good or evil... harry who chooses good and Voldie, who chooses evil, repel each other [22:24] <cbm> Kimmy, do you mean the hate of Voldemort interacting with the love in Harry? [22:24] <harrypotterfan123> voldy was LIVING in quirrel [22:24] <Books_4_eva> harry was feeling voldies pain fro m love [22:24] <KimmyBlair> yeah cbm [22:25] <harrypotterfan123> yet harry wasn't being used in that way [22:25] <fawkes28> and harry is completely pure - which is the opposite of voldemort [22:25] <KimmyBlair> i think the pain was more on Voldie's end [22:25] <Skiplives> I kind of viewed it as an acid and a base meeting, not fun [22:25] <KimmyBlair> He did not realize that posessing Harry would cause himself pain [22:25] <harrypotterfan123> g2g guys [22:25] <KimmyBlair> this i beleive is the pain Harry was feeling [22:25] <harrypotterfan123> homework [22:25] <fawkes28> bye hpfan [22:25] <Skiplives> bye [22:25] <Val_Halla> bye [22:25] <harrypotterfan123> have fun discussing! [22:25] <cbm> Makes sense to me, and when harry pushed feelings of love at Voldemort it caused pain in Voldemort [22:25] <harrypotterfan123> may be back in a while [22:25] *** harrypotterfan123 left #lounge [] [22:25] *** Whisperwing has quit [Bye] [22:25] <fawkes28> and one of them had said that voldemort wanted to cause harry pain, which is why he felt it [22:26] <fawkes28> yes, cbm [22:26] <Books_4_eva> maybe he wanted harry to feel the pain he was causing voldermort [22:27] <fawkes28> John asked people to write in and suggest future topics. Do you plan to write in? What topics might you like to hear discussed in Canon Conundrums? [22:27] <KimmyBlair> How Harry got his scar [22:27] <KimmyBlair> like what actually cause it [22:27] <KimmyBlair> the backfire of the spell... [22:27] <KimmyBlair> the process of the house falling [22:27] <fawkes28> i would love to hear about so many things [22:27] <KimmyBlair> the protection of his mom [22:27] <Books_4_eva> or posably wht that shape [22:27] <fawkes28> how can you choose just one [22:27] <KimmyBlair> exactly [22:27] <fawkes28> yes, kimmy [22:27] <Skiplives> Why TLC has dashes? [22:27] <fawkes28> all of those :) [22:27] <KimmyBlair> so many questions about the scar [22:28] <Skiplives> The mystery of the # sign [22:28] <KimmyBlair> haha TLC has no dashes! [22:28] <Ravenclaws_Heir> lol, skip [22:28] <KimmyBlair> it's just three letters [22:28] <Skiplives> :D [22:28] <KimmyBlair> (kidding) [22:28] <Skiplives> I know [22:28] <fawkes28> they could probably do CC forever [22:29] <fawkes28> at least until the book comes out  [22:29] <Skiplives> no, really I fould like to see one on the founders [22:29] <fawkes28> about them in general, skip? [22:29] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Why certain people were affected by the veil. [22:29] <fawkes28> i would like to know more about grindelwald and what happened with him and DD [22:29] <Skiplives> I think they affect everything that is going on 1000 years later [22:29] <cbm> I would suggest snape's loyalty. That should be a short one, or maybe a weekly segment :D [22:30] <fawkes28> did we do one on the 12 uses of dragon's blood? [22:30] *** Aislinn has joined #lounge [22:30] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I don't think they coul dhave a coherent discussion of the founders, between John hissing and Sue squeeing, lol [22:30] <Theoriser> they've had a modacast on that, fawkes [22:30] <Skiplives> LoL [22:30] <fawkes28> yes, snape's loyality would take up a lot of time [22:30] <Books_4_eva> hehe they seem to manage anyway [22:30] <fawkes28> wb, aislinn :) [22:30] <Aislinn> hi :) [22:30] <Theoriser> lol I can imagine Snape's loyalty being a weekly call-in segment [22:30] <Skiplives> :D [22:30] <KimmyBlair> NO!!!!!!!!!!! [22:30] <fawkes28> we are talking about what you would like to see in the CC's This post has been edited by Theoriser: Nov 29 2006, 11:48 AM |

[22:31] <KimmyBlair> we already have 31 threads (at least)
[22:31] <Ravenclaws_Heir> lol [22:31] <fawkes28> so much to talk about, so little time [22:31] <fawkes28> Donna interviewed Justin and Matt from EA Games, on location in England. She is the Leaky representative on the fan counsel for the Harry Potter games. This is a fairly new thing. Did you know we had a representative? Have you participated in the forums where people suggest what they'd like to see in the games? [22:31] <Books_4_eva> not enough hour in the day or podcast [22:31] <KimmyBlair> i knew we had a representative... [22:32] <KimmyBlair> (DONNA ROCKS!) [22:32] <Skiplives> I haven't played the games at all - to old [22:32] <Aislinn> she does! [22:32] <Books_4_eva> your never to old! [22:32] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I didn't know that, I was a happily suprised! [22:32] <fawkes28> i don't play them either but my students did and loved them [22:32] <Aislinn> it's nice to know that they are looking for input from the fans [22:32] <Val_Halla> I knew, but not being a gamer, I didn't participate [22:32] <KimmyBlair> i got a gamecube for my 23rd birthday [22:32] <Skiplives> Though I can't believe there isn't a HP MMPRPG yet [22:32] <fawkes28> for the HP games, kimmy? [22:33] <KimmyBlair> haha partly [22:33] <KimmyBlair> i have them all! [22:33] <Theoriser> I've made a couple of suggestions in the forum [22:33] <fawkes28> woo hoo :) [22:33] <KimmyBlair> all of the suggestions sounded great [22:33] <fawkes28> i think it was awesome that she got to do that interview [22:33] <KimmyBlair> i hated before how the games were "forced" to do one thing [22:33] <KimmyBlair> the freedom aspect to roam around seems good [22:34] <Books_4_eva> oh definatly [22:34] <fawkes28> Flying is on the list of things EA would like to put in the game, but other things are higher up on their list to complete. Is flying something that you would like to see in the games? [22:34] <Skiplives> I like that they are building out Hogwarts, it sounds like they are trying to make it more of a real game and less of a movie game [22:34] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Oh I know, I'm not much of a gamer but I'm going to buy this one for my pc just so I can roam around Hogwarts [22:34] <KimmyBlair> I'm not a big fan of flying [22:34] <KimmyBlair> i'm rubish at quidditch [22:35] <cbm> I would like to see flying [22:35] <Theoriser> I had the first game on playstation one and was rubbish at flying, but I practised so much that I got really good at it! [22:35] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Its not a huge deal to me either way. [22:35] <fawkes28> i would love to play quidditch in real life so i think i would enjoy the flying [22:35] <Books_4_eva> I like the flying, I think it would be cool to go on a theastral [22:35] <Skiplives> use you Wii as a broomstick! [22:35] <fawkes28> i don't have one! [22:35] <KimmyBlair> that would be cool skip! [22:36] <fawkes28> i think it would be nice to keep the flying for part of the game [22:36] <Skiplives> I may actually get a Wii just to play this game. I will tell my wife it's for the kids of course. [22:36] <KimmyBlair> HAHAHAH [22:36] <fawkes28> LOL [22:36] <Skiplives> Not that she'll believe me for an instant [22:36] <Ravenclaws_Heir> lol, skip [22:36] <Books_4_eva> lol [22:36] * KimmyBlair tries to get addopted by skip [22:36] <Books_4_eva> yes for the children of cause [22:37] <Skiplives> :) [22:37] <fawkes28> What did you think when Justin and Matt said that they plan to include all members of the DA, including their motivations for joining the group? [22:37] <KimmyBlair> EXCITED! [22:37] <KimmyBlair> I love the DA [22:37] <KimmyBlair> and glad to see it will be discussed [22:37] <cbm> I like that [22:37] <Books_4_eva> the DA rules :D [22:37] <fawkes28> yes, i am glad that the DA will be included [22:37] <Theoriser> I really, really hope that this game is as good as it is sounding [22:37] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I can't wait for that! I am in love with the DA [22:37] <Skiplives> I really think the mini quests will be interesting and not just stupid puzzle games [22:37] <fawkes28> there is so much you can do with that [22:37] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I hope, skip [22:37] <Theoriser> I think it's great that so much thought is going into it [22:38] <fawkes28> so you want them to be in the action, skip, with their wands all ready [22:38] <Skiplives> I hope so [22:39] <Skiplives> I never liked side quests that don't have anything to do with the plot [22:39] <Books_4_eva> oh I have to go guyes, it's getting kind of late. Bu bye [22:39] <KimmyBlair> same here skip [22:39] <fawkes28> are there many side quests in the other games? [22:39] <Skiplives> bye [22:39] <fawkes28> bye books [22:39] <KimmyBlair> i also hate it when you have to do everything alone [22:39] <Ravenclaws_Heir> bye [22:39] <Val_Halla> bye [22:39] <KimmyBlair> the book is so much about the trio... when they take that aspect out i get lonely [22:39] <KimmyBlair> (i'm a dork) [22:40] <Skiplives> ooh, party management can get tricky on a console [22:40] <KimmyBlair> yeah that is the problem [22:40] <fawkes28> maybe you'll get your wish for this game [22:40] <fawkes28> Certain parts of the OWL exams will be sprinkled throughout the game. Are you excited about taking the OWL exams? [22:40] <KimmyBlair> the people you aren't moving always seem to get in the way [22:40] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Yes! [22:40] <Skiplives> I know - it is much easier on the PC [22:40] <fawkes28> this is the part of the game that i would enjoy [22:40] <fawkes28> i'm such a hermione [22:41] <Theoriser> yes! And they'd better be good :D [22:41] <KimmyBlair> hahaha [22:41] <Skiplives> you are [22:41] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Me too, fawkes [22:41] <cbm> My meeting is over so I can go home, later. It has been fun! [22:41] <KimmyBlair> i like you can retake them! [22:41] *** cbm has quit [Bye] [22:41] <fawkes28> bye cbm [22:41] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I really can't wait for the OWLS! [22:41] <Ravenclaws_Heir> bye cbm [22:41] <Skiplives> that is good - otherwise the game would be ruined by one poor score [22:41] <fawkes28> i would think the DADA one would be fun [22:41] <Theoriser> didn't they have something like that in the chamber of secrets game? [22:41] <Skiplives> the pracitcal would be tought [22:41] <Skiplives> though [22:41] <fawkes28> maybe i'll buy the game just for the O.W.L.S. [22:42] <Theoriser> oh wait I think this was PS1, but they had a couple of classes you could go to, and you won an award if you got "outstanding" [22:42] <Skiplives> that's just wrong, fawkes! [22:42] <Skiplives> :) [22:42] <fawkes28> ok then for the flying also [22:42] <fawkes28> hehe [22:42] <fawkes28> The game will be an "open Hogwarts" where once a location is unlocked you can return there whenever you want. Donna described this as "the endless day." Were you surprised by the amount of flexibility that this game will have? [22:43] <KimmyBlair> yes [22:43] <Skiplives> It is where PC games are going though, so I view it as a good thing [22:43] <fawkes28> i don't understand this since i don't play but i'll take your word [22:43] <Ravenclaws_Heir> No because I had just listened to the mugglecast interview with EA games and they said the same thing XP [22:44] *** Aislinn has quit [Bye] [22:44] <Theoriser> I'd read a bit about the endless day before, on the suggestions thread [22:44] <fawkes28> i'm back in the mario days - so if you "beat" the 1st level than you could go back to it (is that what the game is doing?) [22:44] *** Books_4_eva has quit [Bye] [22:44] <Skiplives> older games had you on a rail, and if you wanted to do something later you couldn't go back and see it again [22:45] <Theoriser> Only 15 minutes left, everyone! This has been a great chat! I want to remind you all that this transcript can be found at the PotterCast Forum http://www.leakylounge.com/PotterCast-f104.html. [22:45] <fawkes28> sounds like a good thing then :p [22:45] <fawkes28> Hogwarts and the other locations has been littered with magical objects in all the rooms - such as stacking chairs, or dishes that wash themselves. The games have tried to incorporate every single room we've ever seen in the movies, even certain cupboards. Jo approves everything. How cool is their attention to detail? [22:45] <KimmyBlair> very cool! [22:45] <Skiplives> most excelent [22:46] <fawkes28> i like when jo is involved in these things [22:46] <fawkes28> it shows that they want to make it as close to the books as possible [22:46] <Skiplives> though she should be writing [22:46] <Skiplives> :) [22:46] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I squueed when I heard that there were going to be stacking chairs and dishes washing themselves! [22:46] <fawkes28> lol skip [22:46] <fawkes28> yes, she should [22:46] <Ravenclaws_Heir> lol skip [22:47] <Theoriser> hehe [22:47] <Ravenclaws_Heir> then again she is welcome to take her time with book 7...I dread the day it comes out as much as I anticipte it [22:47] <fawkes28> see another reason...dishes washing themselves...i'm sold :p [22:47] <Skiplives> I know what you mean [22:47] <KimmyBlair> hahaha [22:47] <Skiplives> all 1400 pages [22:47] <Skiplives> :P [22:47] <Ravenclaws_Heir> oh please make it 1400 pages! [22:48] <fawkes28> well, she does deserve breaks now and then :) [22:48] <fawkes28> Grimmauld Place and the Ministry will be included in the game. What are you most hoping to see in these locations? [22:48] <Skiplives> I can hope, Robert Jordon is finishing his series too and he said it will be one book even it runs two volumes [22:49] <Ravenclaws_Heir> The portrait of Sirius's mom! [22:49] <KimmyBlair> the locket [22:49] <KimmyBlair> and the fountain [22:49] <Skiplives> The Black Family Tree [22:49] <Ravenclaws_Heir> ooh, the locket too Kimmy! [22:49] <fawkes28> those are definitely two awesome places [22:49] <fawkes28> think about the veil [22:49] <Skiplives> the locket won't open though [22:49] <fawkes28> how great will that look [22:49] <KimmyBlair> ohhh the family tree! [22:50] <Skiplives> it would be cool if you could take it and your character into the book 7 game [22:50] <fawkes28> yes, hopefully the fountain will come to life [22:50] <Ravenclaws_Heir> I hope so! [22:50] <KimmyBlair> hahah i was just thinking that skip! [22:50] <KimmyBlair> save you a ton of work! [22:50] <fawkes28> i wish we had a book 7 game [22:50] <Skiplives> great minds and all [22:51] <Skiplives> one horcrux down! [22:51] <fawkes28> Do you plan to write a holiday filk? [22:51] <Skiplives> not my thing - no voice [22:51] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Maybe... [22:51] <fawkes28> some people are trying to convince me too [22:52] <Theoriser> I might write one, but not sing one :p [22:52] <fawkes28> and they will probably win [22:52] <fawkes28> i really enjoy the filks [22:52] <Skiplives> unless you want to hear a gravelly Tom Waits rendition of something. [22:52] <KimmyBlair> hahah [22:52] <fawkes28> especially christmas time ones [22:52] <Theoriser> there is an important different between the two :p [22:52] <KimmyBlair> that's why my voice was speed up for my filk! [22:52] <KimmyBlair> you cou'dn't tell which was me [22:52] <fawkes28> yes, that is true [22:53] <KimmyBlair> it was great [22:53] <Skiplives> :) [22:53] <fawkes28> yes, that was a funny one, kimmy [22:54] <KimmyBlair> i liked it! [22:54] <fawkes28> What song would you most want to hear turned into a filk? [22:54] <fawkes28> me too...it was very catchy...i was singing it for a few days :) [22:54] <KimmyBlair> i love caroler of the bells [22:54] <Skiplives> The Kinks - Merry Christmas [22:55] <fawkes28> frosty the snowman could be funny as a filk [22:55] <Skiplives> perfect for the Slytherin [22:55] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Ooh, I agree kimmy! Someone please make a carol of the bells filk! [22:55] <fawkes28> that would be tough to do...it goes very fast [22:55] <fawkes28> last question... [22:55] <fawkes28> What was your favorite part of PotterCast 65? [22:55] <Ravenclaws_Heir> Fawkes...you have just inspired me. If you hear a Frosty filk it very well may be mine, lol [22:55] <KimmyBlair> that's the problem... fast [22:56] <Skiplives> The flying pigs [22:56] <fawkes28> i can't wait to hear it ravenclaw! [22:56] <Ravenclaws_Heir> the cc [22:56] <fawkes28> i enjoy the CC's [22:56] <Skiplives> Snakes with socks [22:56] <Ravenclaws_Heir> lol [22:56] <KimmyBlair> Fan interview! [22:56] <fawkes28> lol skip [22:56] <KimmyBlair> oh wait...
