When GoF was comign out, I thought I would get the book first and read it. It was all downhill after that. [16:15] <fawkes28> almost 2 years, Raldan [16:15] <chocolateisnotforbreakfast> that's how i was mroberts, in January or December I applied as flash programmer to get some Actionscript Programming experience... if i have to keep my skills up by doing projects, might as well have them be HP projects! [16:30] <JaneMarple9> thats how i found it Danae - with PS on the radio one christmas [16:30] <chocolateisnotforbreakfast> basically: the early teaser trailer... my brother bought Harry Potter at the same time as Captain Underpants, so i didn't take HP seriously until i saw the really early teaser [16:30] <mroberts731> I'll read anything, so the fact that they are widely considered children's books did not bother me [16:30] <fawkes28> see, captain underpants was so publicized - i was afraid HP was going to be similar to that without any quality to it [16:31] <JaneMarple9> I considered them kiddies books too. Seen a few reviews of them, but they looked to much like Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit [16:31] <chocolateisnotforbreakfast> i think the mindset of HP is stuck in the 8 - 13 zone [16:31] <danae24> I had read other kid's books before, but since fantasy books arent really my type of reading material, I didnt feel appeal to them [16:31] <Aislinn> me too mroberts [16:31] <chocolateisnotforbreakfast> the fact that I was 15 when I started and am 22 now... really shows how the fandom isn't the same as it was when the craze began [16:31] <Aislinn> I love fantasy, so that got me interested [16:31] <JaneMarple9> yes i wasn't into fantasty either - I soon changed my mind! [16:32] <fawkes28> KimmyBlair’s fan interview this week was with Angela, the architect of the infamous “time turner theory.” There is a lot of discussion about the plausibility of this theory, and now there are changes! It’s gotten really intricate! What do you think about the “time turner theory”? [16:32] <chocolateisnotforbreakfast> i loved fantasy, so i knew i'd love it [16:32] <danae24> almost the same here chocolate! What do you think about the forum? Do you enjoy the discussions on the boards? Why or why not? [16:35] <mroberts731> the paradox cloak [16:35] <danae24> and it would get even more intricate, the fact that he will affect in the past the outcome of the future...... it's too stereotipey for me... [16:35] <chocolateisnotforbreakfast> it exists within the time loop smile [16:35] <Aislinn> I think it's fascinating to read other people's opinions [16:36] <mroberts731> Yes, I love discussion, especially shipping ones LOL [16:36] <fawkes28> the lounge definitely influences opinions because it helps people grow and develop even deeper thoughts about the series [16:36] <danae24> I like the forum because you get to complement your theories and read other really good ones [16:36] <mroberts731> Yes, it brings out new ideas, makes me think [16:36] <stewiegryf> I love the forums. There are a lot more creative people on here than me and I love to read fascinating theories. [16:36] <fawkes28> i would not be the same type of fan if i just read the books on my own [16:36] <cbm> I love the varied opinions, it makes me think when I see people who disagree with me, if I was on a board where everyone agreed with me I would learn nothing [16:36] <danae24> and that doesnt mean that it will change completelly your point of view [16:36] <fawkes28> exactly, danae [16:36] <chocolateisnotforbreakfast> I don't like when people state their theories as fact... it's sometimes hard to state your theory and have it shot down, not by canon, but by conjecture lol [16:36] <mroberts731> I love to read a well thought out theory. I dont know.... They talked about the UK covers this week, but let’s talk about their discussion about the UK Adult cover. Why is the locket pictured significant? Is it a Horcrux?
