QUOTE(moony_lupin @ Jul 7 2007, 06:19 PM) I'm still not sure. I put Undecided for both of the first two questions. To be honest this trial has made my thoughts on Snape even more confused. That's the general thought many people have been saying. I've thought him Innocent from the beginning, but I can definitely see how people who still have no idea got their ideas all jumbled up after all this. Like wy1dchy1d says, we'll find out in 14 days. -------------------- |

Hehehe! I know! I can't believe the people around here, but what can we do? We just have to stick up for him, I guess. Agreed. I hope they have shampoo in Azkaban. Oh, that would just be torture to the man. Do you have ANY idea how many times he'd have to lather to get the grease out? Give the man a break with the greasy hair thing! Surely it's bad enough being sent to Azkaban for a crime you didn't commit without everyone making fun of your hair! Maybe it's a hormonal thing... On a different note, I'm also pants-wettingly excited about HPDH This post has been edited by Aislinn: Jul 7 2007, 08:55 PM |

Right then, I'm off to bed Night all. Great trial! |

Like wy1dchy1d says, we'll find out in 14 days. thank you! i will say this: the trial took me from thinking he's completely guilty to speculation as to what may have really happened. everyone views it from one side or another. we won't really know everything until book 7 comes out. when that happens, our opinions will likely be moot. all the facts will be there as jk rowling herself has stated that there will be no more harry potter books after book 7. thus, all the questions, assumptions, and opinions should be answered with this final book. -------------------- |

I thought snape was guilty until the trile. It made me see things I hadn't seen before and made me think about it all in a diffrernt way. He had to do what he did and that's one thing one can deny. Wether he liked it or would have done it anyway is up for grabs but I think he sould have been found not guilty because of his past with DD. I DD trust his so do I. You Know DD not stupied.

I didn't get to vote because I was out of the house all day and missed this cool trial. But after reading the transcript, it more re-affirmed my beliefs than anything. I believe that Snape killed Dumbledore. I believe it was Dumbledore on that tower and I believe it was Snape that muttered the curse. But it is the "why" that is the catcher. If it was a mercy killing (therefore, do it for the greater good, etc.) it wouldn't be the first time Dumbeldore has asked someone he trusts to harm him for the greater good. The defense brought up a good point that just hours ago, Dumbeldore had requested that Harry force a horrible potion down his throat to retrieve the locket. Dumbledore never considered himself to be greater than the cause. Therefore I could understand why he would ask Snape to take his life. I also believe, however, that what happened on the tower was just as much a genuine shock to Snape as well as Harry. Dumbledore had to of known that this was going to be Snape's last year as a teacher at Hogwarts. The DADA position was cursed and not one teacher who taught in that position returned in a different capacity. And so, I believe Snape and Dumbledore did have an alternate plan and perhaps both thought that they could use the "curse" to their advantage. And also, restore Snape's credibility in the eyes of not just Voldemort but the other Death Eaters. (I am still thinking all this through, so this "idea" isn't fully thought out and probably has already been considered). But, because the position is cursed, their plan went awry. Part of Dumbledore and Snape's plan relied on getting the "important task" from Draco. And so on that final night, the curse came through and everyone was in hot water. Snape, because his "master" inadvertantly thwarted Snape and Dumbledore's plan of sabotage. Draco was unable to kill Dumbeldore which meant that Snape had to fulfill his vow--something he didn't want to do, as he and Dumbledore had already discussed this "if." And Dumbledore because he realized his time was up and he would have to be murdered if the good side were to ultimately triumph.
And the trial brought up a good point, there were two students lives at stake that night. Not only Draco's, but Harry's. It wouldn't have escaped the Death Eaters' notice for long that there were two brooms in that tower. Snape had to act quickly. They probably could have hid Draco if the other Death Eaters' hadn't shown up. But when they did, Dumbeldore knew that it was "Plan B" time. So yeah. Snape isn't really "good" or "bad." I believe he worked for Dumbeldore first and foremost and his primary goal is self preservation. But in the end, he will work to defeat Voldemort for whatever reason that Dumbeldore trusts Snape. Snape is a very complicated man. |
