I miss the latter form of the feature myself. I've tried searching for topics that I know I've posted in at other time and can't access anymore. Which is frustrating. Because I'll search using words or phrases I know full well were used, and regardless which of what time length I search with, they still won't come up. In fact, it'll say that word was never even used. It's frustrating that we no longer have this form of being able to search. Especially as, if we do regular search, things will come up since from the time of the forum's opening. I just think it'd be easier to find what I'm looking for if I was able to access more of my own archive of posts as opposed to the entire forums. Because then I could actually find what I'm looking for, instead of spending an hour coming with absolutely nothing no matter how many variations I try. There is still the advanced search in which you can filter by name, date, and by forum. (Among other things) Actually, that's exactly what I was referring to. I've used it many to times to no avail. Which I why I'm curious about the other function I mentioned. Searching backwards directly from your individual profile. Well, you can always look at all your posts. (Click) Not sure how much of a help that is. QUOTE The less visitors setting is the only one that's not working, but I've noticed that too. I think that the comments and friends aren't working either. Yeah, they aren't working for me. But this is new so i know it all will get sorted out soon. I think Nick knows about the custom widget thing... To get the colors working, make sure that under Profile settings>Colours and Themes> you choose "Use my own CSS." Otherwise the colors won't work. Hope that helps, and then just edit the colors under the other tabs. ETA: Like how mine is. Just wondering - what happened to the number representing profile visits? I believe it used to be a part of the stats - but it is no longer there.... Forgive me if someone has asked about this already, just curious whether or not we'll get that information back. Thanks. I'll see if I can add that back in tonight. Several of the statistics were left out for some reason, but we can most likely add them all back in. Also... where did the last visitors Widget go? I guess I might have closed it while I was rearranging content, but now it's not among the available ones and not showing? How do I get it back? Another thing I sorely miss is the possibility to find all my posts/all my threads that used to be two links in the Profile. Could we please have them back? Try refreshing if something's not showing up. AJAX in general has a tendency to not be "up-to-date" with things pulled out of the database unless the whole page is refreshed. Do you mean the links that were in the options menu, or the two tabs? The two tabs should still be there and working properly. The links that were in the options menu are also in the menu that shows up when you click your name in a post, or when you click on your name in the memberlist. They'll be back in the options menu in profiles once we get the options menu Javascript to work in the upper options button (and get rid of the options button that's part of the stats widget). What I mean, is that there is no way to tell what your profile looks to members. When I view DorisTLC's profile it looks much cleaner because the comments aren't squished together, and you can't see what your profile actually looks like without the x's and without everything scrunched together. Is there anyway there could be an edit mode for the profiles- and a regular mode for viewing purposes? Just a thought. Try refreshing after making changes to your profile. It'll space itself out much better. A problem with AJAX is that it changes things without refreshing the page, which can make things look bad until you refresh, just like how the Quick Edit isn't formatting the custom font and color of posts until you refresh. I miss the latter form of the feature myself. I've tried searching for topics that I know I've posted in at other time and can't access anymore. Which is frustrating. Because I'll search using words or phrases I know full well were used, and regardless which of what time length I search with, they still won't come up. If you click on your name in one of your posts, or if you click on your name in the memberlist, those same two links to find all of your posts and all of your topics will show up. They're not in the profiles tonight because I'm working on moving the options menu to always be accessible whether the person is using the member stats widget or not. Once that's been done then we'll be all set. QUOTE The less visitors setting is the only one that's not working, but I've noticed that too. I think that the comments and friends aren't working either. Yeah, they aren't working for me. OK, I'll have a peek at the others too. Just wanted to say that the custom widget thing is still not working. Also, I tried to do the colours thing for my profile and nothing happened. But this is new so i know it all will get sorted out soon. Make sure that you have Custom CSS enabled or else it won't use your custom CSS, just the default CSS. The custom widget feature's going to take a bit of experimenting to get it to work for us. In the meantime, I'll remove it so that there's no confusion. Thanks for your feedback, everyone! We're hoping to knock out several of the issues that have been raised tonight and keep on making things work like they normally have while keeping all of the additional features and goodies. --Nick |

Does the LL delete posts or topics? I thought they all just ended being archived away? I actually went through and scanned the entire history of my posts. I still didn't find what I was looking for. Actually, I realized that several were missing. -------------------- |

For now I've changed the profiles back to the old system. Once the developers release the bug-fixes and new features, we'll try it again. Thank you, everyone, for your great feedback and patience!
Once we have re-enabled the modification, we'll start a new topic for discussion. After much research on the site of the group that built this modification, I've found that just about everything that you all have reported here has already been reported there as bugs, and have been fixed for the next release. In the meantime, I've found that I actually can't add back in the statistics and contact info. The core file of this modification is encoded, which means that I can't modify it, only the developers can, and most of these bugs lie inside that file. They should be fixed in the release, though, as I say. JeffHPFan, your idea for a "member-view" option for profiles would be implemented through a profile permissions system, which in theory we could default so that profiles are only visible to members, not guests, but that can be changed by the individual to let guests view it. Then it's just a matter of using a second browser to view the profile as a guest and see how they see it. I miss the latter form of the feature myself. I've tried searching for topics that I know I've posted in at other time and can't access anymore. Which is frustrating. We've been regularly moving old topics into a non-public archive area so that members don't get confused about whether they should use an old topic or start a new one. It could be that the topic or topics you were looking for ended up there. --Nick |

Actually, I realized that several were missing. One way around the annoying disappearance of older posts is to copy all threads in a Reading Group before the groups are closed. That's how I've maintained a "logg" of my own posts in old reading groups. (The ones in which I have been active.) Another option is to switch email "notification" on for threads you replied to. You can set it to send a Weekly (and other intervalls) digest of all posts - including your own - made to any thread you're active in. But that tend to generate LOTS of emails from the less interesting threads as well - like the Testing thread and what not. Or you can remember to just switch it on manually for selected threads. Hope this helps. This post has been edited by Evreka: Feb 6 2008, 03:48 AM -------------------- Welcome to Try & Trix, enjoy HP trivia, interactive crosswords, jigsaws, logic, word puzzles...! I am excited about the upgrades! i would love to have a "color" feature so you can change the colors of your text or background or boxes or borders? I know that is what myspace is for but it would be cool!
