© Audrey DeLong Supplies One skein each Lion Brand Wool Ease in the Ravenclaw colors of your choice US5 (3.75 mm) DPNs Cable needle Tapestry needle Instructions Left Armwarmer CO 45 stitches in main color (MC) and join taking care not to twist. Work 10 rows of k2 p2 ribbing, ending with a p1 to create a "seam" stitch out of which your thumb gusset will grow. Stripe Pattern Knit 14, p2, k6 p2, knit 20, p1. Knit 11 rows of this pattern using MC. Knit 2 rows of this pattern using the contrasting color (CC). Knit 2 rows, of this pattern using MC. Knit 2 rows of this pattern using CC. Cable Pattern As you stripe, do a 3/3 cable. For the left armwarmer, use a 3CF (sl 3 sts to cable needle, hold in front, k next 3 sts ,sl 3 sts off of the cable needle and k them). Work this cable on Round 11 (MC) of the stripe pattern, and then again on Round 2 (MC) of the stripe pattern. Author's Note: This means that the row before you change to CC and the row after you change back to MC will be cabled. Thumb Gusset Do 5 repeats of cable and stripe pattern, or until the armwarmer is the length you want from just below your thumb to your wrist. As you continue this pattern for the 6th time, increase the thumb gusset in the purl "seam" stitch that's ended every round using the following pattern. Round 1: P in front and back of purl stitch. Round 2: P in front and back of both purl stitches. Round 3: P 4 stitches even. Round 4: P front & back, purl 2 even, purl front & back. Round 5: P 6 stitches even. Round 6: P front & back, p 4 stitches even, p front & back. Round 7: P 8 stitches even. Round 8: P front & back, p 6 stitches even, p front & back. Round 9: P 10 stitches even. Round 10: Bind off ten stitches in purl. Finishing On the next round, CO one stitch to cover the gap. Work 6 more rows of the cable & stripe pattern. Work 5 rounds of k2, p2 ribbing, ending with a p1. Bind off in pattern. Weave in ends. Right Armwarmer Work the same as for the left armwarmer, but with these important changes. Work a p2, k2 ribbing instead of a k2, p2 ribbing. The set-up row for the cable & stripe pattern will change to (k 20, p2, k6, p2, k14, p1). For the right armwarmer, use a 3CB (sl 3 sts to cable needle, hold in back, k next 3 sts ,sl 3 sts off of the cable needle and k them). Work the rest of the pattern the same as for the left armwarmer. Weave in ends. Final Product  Credit Audrey DeLong's tutorial was taken with permission from swordqueen.tripod.com.
