[12:17] <Expelliarmas> Chapter 22 opens with McGonagall announcing the Yule Ball–which only 4th years and above can attend (younger students can attend if asked by a 4th year or better). Mercifully, that leaves the Creeveys out! Lavender and Parvati eye Harry and giggle. As a champion, Harry had to get himself a date. The champions open the Ball! [12:18] <Expelliarmas> Harry wants to ask Cho, but can’t get the nerve to do it. Girls ask Harry to the Ball–some of whom he heartlessly shoots down without first thinking about it. Meanwhile, life improved as many students stopped wearing the Support Cedric Badges. Hagrid gave Rita an interview. Harry kept putting off dealing with the Egg clue. [12:18] <Expelliarmas> Ron would rather go stag than with Eloise Midgen. The boys enter a pact to both have dates by the time they return to the common room. Harry asks Cho–but Cedric beat him to it. Ron asked Fleur. Neville asked Hermione, but she had a date. Hermione declines Ron’s lame offer. Harry asks Parvati to the Ball. Padma agrees to go with Ron. [12:18] <Expelliarmas> Sirius warns Harry to stay alert and stay out of trouble. To Hermione, that means it’s time to start working on the egg, Harry not so much. On Christmas Day, Harry and Ron exchange gifts with Dobby. Later, Hermione starts getting ready for the Ball very early. Ron wears his dreadful robes. [12:19] <Expelliarmas> The biggest shock of the night? Hermione draped on Viktor Krum’s arm. The mystery date resolved. Folks are shocked at how pretty Hermione actually is as she enters. Including a stunned Ron. Inside the Great Hall, the Triwizard judges are there–except Crouch who sent Percy. Ron and Hermione bicker. [12:19] <Expelliarmas> Outside, Ron and Harry see the twins talking to Bagman. Karkaroff and Snape were talking. Hagrid and Madam Maxime talked about their backgrounds and parents. A beetle crawled around a statue and heard, along with the boys, that Hagrid is a half-giant. At the end of the night, Cedric gives Harry a hint about the egg–take a bath. [12:19] <Expelliarmas> Up to speed? Good! Let’s talk about Chapters 22 and 23 of Goblet of Fire! [12:19] <Expelliarmas> What did you think of Harry’s initial reaction to the Ball? [12:19] <MrMcGonagall> Typical of his age. [12:19] <SoonerGryffindor> I loved this part! [12:19] <Aislinn> I thought it was very typical [12:19] <SoonerGryffindor> his and MM's interactions were hilarious [12:19] <MrMcGonagall> Completely new experience for him. [12:19] <bemused> Funny! [12:20] <MrMcGonagall> They were hysterical, Sooner. [12:20] <Aislinn> boys that age would not look forward to something like a ball [12:20] <DumbleDebbie> it's so cute! [12:20] <kaelgirl> I think that every guy goes through the uncertainty of asking a girl out [12:20] <EmilyVizi> do we have to go? [12:20] <cloudpic> I'd have been overwhelmed too... they hadn't had any other dances that we know of...
