For a while now I really think that the movies messed up the books. Scenes I was looking forward in PoA, GoF, OotP got cut, the style of the films was that of a bad commedy, scenes were too short, and always music in the background.

The movies seem to focus on the not-so-well parts of the books and ignore the more brilliant moments.

IŽd love to direct them myself (call me arrogant or whatever now). I have no experience with movies but with theatre-plays.

I wonder if there are other pple on that forum whoŽd like to make their own Potter-movies and would even put a great amount of energy into this project.
Just wondering... (So iŽd love to find someone to make the plans come alive)

no...

ootp was the best by far...it really captured the essence of the book and the potter world...how the magic is still grounded in reality i.e. dudley wearing nike sports clothes cos it is set in the modern world, scenes over london etc...

the direction was excellent in this film and so was the script (very funny)...acting superb aswell...esp umbridge, luna, snape...the script really brought out the good in these actors.

however i've never really been fond of any of the other movies at all. ootp in my opinion was the only one that did justice to the book.

of course they're going to cut out many scenes from the book, but it is a movie but they kept the important parts in and this enabled them tofocus on the plot and the emotions of the characters in the book.

If they ever chose to re-film the HP movies, I hope they go for a miniseries that way they'll have more time to make them better and more accurate, specially more accurate.

I don't think it'll ever happen, though...unless the person who chooses to is a die-hard fan themselves! grin.gif

I so agree with you secunda.
Please take it upon yourself to make it happen thumbup.gif

A version for the fanatics.
Make them longer, put in the bitc that matter, make them true to the books.

Even better make several films for one book, like a film for a few chapters biggrin.gif just so timage isn't an issue.

Urgh. OotP was terrible. Choppy, untrue to the films, changing of details.. Just wrong.

Only one scene in the whole book was perfect I think. And that would be the bit after the kiss.
That was amazing. I wish the rest of the films fitted that mood.

Absolutely not. Leave them as they are. While not totally accurate renditions of the books, they are fairly close except for POA. But, even in POA the premise is still there.
Look secunda if you don't like the movies please just don't watch them anymore and don't bother going to HBP or DH when those movies come. You know that no movie based on a book is accurate to the book. Even Gone With the Wind misses the mark and it's a 4 hour movie. But, don't continue to spoil it for those of us who are fanatics of HP and can understand that the movies will miss the mark of the books. However, you need to watch the movies for what they are: based on the books.

I'd love for them to redo the 4th with a real maze!

Wonder if Peter Jackson is busy??

I agree. I thought the part where Voldy was in Harry in the ministry was Ok. Made me kinda sappy. But overall, I came away horribly disappointed and wanting several things to be refilmed or redone. I like most of the actors/actresses, it just was done so *wrong*. Maybe someday...

Oh God, the day I hear Peter Jackson will direct the last HP movie, I'll cry of happiness. Seriously, who better than him...but this is not the place to discuss it, so I'll stop.

Maybe not re-film it (because we're all pretty much in love with the actors that were chosen for their parts, and finding new actors would be very difficult) but turning the books into animated cartoons could be good. That way you can do all the effects you want, and do every single scene from the book. You'd just have to find someone who was good at voicing them.
