In the later case the movie makers could slip in an inferus version of Regulus as a non-obvious clue.

I don't really think they have to name him anything or Regulus the inferri.
Maybe all they want is to present us the actor, or the face of Regulus, so we are able to recognise him when we see him in DH movie. They just have to make his face very close to what his human face would look like, that way when we will watch DH movie and the cave scene with Regulus and Kreacher, Regulus would appear to be less of a stranger to us. --------------------  |

Still why do they say HBP casting then Well it hasn't been officially confirmed by WB yet, so maybe the casting agency just assumed that it would be for HBP because it is being filmed right now. I agree with you and roonwit that WB may be filming both the HBP and the DH scenes at the same time to save time and money. He could look like him to show off all his famous pupils. I couldn't really see any photos of Regulus being included in HBP. We don't see Grimmauld Place in HBP and Sirius isn't exactly going to show Harry a photo of him now is he? Yeah they could also make him into an inferi. But like you said, even if they are going to do that, it would be in DH not HBP
