If the Yule Ball kicked up a few tentative pairings in GoF, it was nothing to what OOTP, dark and turbulent as it was, did. we'll take the OOTP pairs one by one : 1. Harry ~ Cho : It was no secret to us that Harry had an eye for Cho right from PoA. And Cho didn't seem to resent the idea either. Harry is mortified that Cho should see him covered in stinksap sitting with possibly the uncoolest of students in Hogwarts - Neville and Luna. But hey, hey, the DA finally manages to bring the two together. And here we have to ask the questions. Did you think Harry and Cho were suited for each other ? What brought them close ? What made them part ? Did Cho's practically incessant crying turn Harry off to the extent that he prized non-weepiness quite a lot in girls; hem hem, or should I say Ginny ?  2. Ginny ~ Michael : Ginny, who had been anguished to hear her brother tell her she could go with Harry to the yule Ball after she had agreed to go with Neville, moved on. She not only seemed to have overcome her shyness in front of Harry, but could actually discuss his relationship with Cho with him. Did you think Ginny had really gotten over Harry when Hermione tells Ron (& us) she was going out with Michael ? What made her come close to Michael Corner first and later Dean Thomas ? Did you think Harry and Ginny would get together at the end of OOTP itself ? 3. Remus ~ Tonks : Ah ! Here's one ship I can never resist talking about. True, we don't actually see either of them show any overt inclinations in that direction, but there surely must have been something that made them both close enough to love each other the way they did. Did any of you know they were intended for each other from the start ? If you did, what made you think so ? Did you really hope they would get together in the near future ? Were they suited for each other in your opinion ? 4. Ron ~ Hermione : Things don't seem to be moving for either of them in OOTP, but we are given a lot of hope with Ron's sharp "How do you know?", when Hermione assures Harry he is not a bad kisser. We also see slight twinges of jealousy when Ron sees her letter to her pen-friend - Viktor Krum. Did you see Ron and Hermione coming closer in OOTP ? Did you think Ron would expand his emotional range to more than a teaspoon length and see what we could see ? That Hermione was meant for him and only him ? Discuss all these questions and any others, on any other characters, on any aspect of romance in OOTP in this cupid inspired thread.
