With a unique perspective on Harry and his world, our Featured FanArtist for September
produces both digital and manual art that is noteworthy for it's intense colour and dramatic lighting. Sanna L. ![]() She has done quite a lot of canon FanArt, but has not been afraid to bring a touch of imagination into her vision of the Potterverse. And, although most noted for her colour works, she has a real eye for the stark beauty of black and white, as seen in this image, part of a series on the events atop the Astronomy tower in Half-Blood Prince -- ![]() In addition to over thirty pieces in the TLC FanArt Gallery, Sanna L. also posts her art on DeviantArt as miyavi and has a LiveJournal community called Screaming Yo-Yo. So have a look at Sanna L.'s fantastic FanArt--and tell us what you think! This post has been edited by Hagiographer13: Aug 31 2007, 03:08 AM -------------------- |

Sanna L's use of colour is fantastic. Her B&W pieces are very powerful such as DD falling (see above) which is just electrifying in its intensity.
This picture is a really beautiful depiction of Diagon Alley. I love the little touches like the red witch window shopping and the woman in the background carrying a baby. The cobblestones must have taken ages to do, and the colour of the buildings and the light shining off the trio's fabric is gorgeous. http://fanart.the-leaky-cauldron.org/picture/view/2872 I love this one of Harry and Ginny: The composition is great. They both look at ease in this picture and the hair (esp. Ginny's) is brilliantly done. http://fanart.the-leaky-cauldron.org/picture/view/74 This post has been edited by Hagiographer13: Feb 11 2008, 12:04 PM

Wow, I love her art. A couple of my favourite pieces are the lightning struck tower, because it's just exactly like the scene in the book, with revulsion etched in Snape's face. The sketchy black and white style really adds to it.
And I love this picture of Luna, with her round staring eyes, looking like she's just stepped out of the book! -------------------- |

I also love this image of Luna, it's one of the best I've seen, she looks so real, and vulnerable which I think is a side that many fan artists don't show. This really makes her live up to her strange image shown in the books, and conveys her loneliness. -------------------- ![]() Thank you to reallycorking for the amazing art in this banner, and to spattergroit for the editing of it! |

The black/white one of Dumbledore falling from the astonomy is incredible. I've never seen anyone draw it from that perspective; very unique.

Ooh Ooh I have loved Sanna L's work since the first time I found her in the FA gallery! The very first piece of hers I ever saw was JKR and Harry. So beautiful and striking, the likeness to Jo, the colors on Harry's robe and the backround. I was in love!
However I have yet to see one of her pieces I don't like. This one of an inferi gave me chills! The way she depicts light in this picture of young Lily is phenomenal. I could go on and on! Sanna L. rocks! -------------------- "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" Dumbledore-DH

'The Lightning Struck Tower' series is great! I'd advise her to fiddle around with the shading in Photoshop, so the black spaces are completely black & you can't see the felt tip line differences... on the other hand it could turn out looking too slick - which I'm sure she is consciously avoiding, seeing as her other pictures show she is quite proficient in digital media.

Amazing art! That is all I have to say! I have seen this picture many times on Myspace and have fallen in love with it. I love the Lighting Struck Tower items but am in love with her Harry. It is amazing.

These are two I really like as well! As Theoriser mentions, you can see the pain and self-loathing on Snape's face that he had to muster to perform this act atop the astronomy tower -- Sanna L.'s version of Luna is just perfect! I am especially struck by her use of soft edges in much of her work, which gives it a warm dreamy look. Fabulous stuff! -------------------- |

Its nice to see Sanna L get featured. I found her on dA a while back and really loved her unique take on the characters. I've especially loved her watercolors and her ink drawings, very different from most other fanart, but excellent stuff. Congrats.
