The prospect of Dementors breeding is quite scary enough to people who know what they can do. And that's merely the beginning of the chills HBP gives. There are many happenings that are calculated to freeze our blood throughout the book. eek.gif

So tell us, which particular scenes did you find most frightening ?

The scariest scene in HBP is when Harry used Sectumsempra on Draco. When it described what happened I thought that Harry had actually killed him. Poor Draco draco.gif

Yeah i thought that was scary too but i'd be more inclined to think 'poor harry' the shock he must have got when he realised what he did. He must have thought he killed Draco. He had trusted the Prince implicitly up until then, he must have felt really cheated.

A scary part for me was never fully knowing for most of the book what was wrong with Dumbledores hand. The most scariest was the dark mark. Its the equivalent to the *dun dun* music when you watch a Jaws film; You know something is about to happen, something bad, but you don't know what it will be.

there was definitely alot of scary parts in HBP
but for me the scariest thing had to be when Katie was cursed by that necklace. i'm a big reader and i create the perfect image in my head of what i'm reading and it just creeped me out...JK Rowling described the curse very well and it was chilling.
i think in the movie it will be one of the scariest things, dumbledore's hand won't be as scary as reading about it but Draco's sectumsempra run-in will be quite horrific too...
..great book. lol

be what you would seem to be, or if you'd like it put more simply: Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.

Oh, i forgot to say, when Harry jumped over the body when he was in pursuit of Snape. You didn't know who it was, you didn't know how bad it was. Scary!!!

The effects of the potion on DD were hard to read, as was the bit when Snape appeared at the top of the tower. Also the bit after Harry did sectumsempra, and Snape told him to wait....I had a feeling something really terrible was going to happen!

HBP is my favourite HP book by far.

I don't know if this counts as scariest, but the most disturbing part to me was when Harry had to keep feeding the potion to Dumbledore. That was really sickening.

As far as actual "scary-ness"... I think I would say when they watch the memory of Dumbledore meeting Tom Riddle for the first time. The fact that he was a child and already so completely amoral and that he had already done gross violent things was really scary. I don't like the idea of children being remorseless or violent.

"I'm not going to be murdered!" Harry said out loud.
"That's the spirit, dear," said his mirror sleepily.
