When I told my mom my sister and I were going to the midnight premiere of HBP she proceeded to say something along the lines of "I thought the final movie already came out." I told her that was the final book not movie. I feel better after reading this! My personal favorite is when people ask me "What is it with you and everyone who is so into that series? You've finished it -- you know how it ends." As if enjoyment ends when you read the final chapter..... I always get asked this at work when I'm re-reading the series (which I do once a year, minimum). "You're reading them again? What's the point? You already know what happens!" Yeah, because I can't enjoy it anymore just because I know what happens! I totally agree with all that's been said. I tend to get angry at those who have only seen the movies and "don't have time" to read the books. This bugs me too. The worst case of this I;ve seen was on the red carpet for the London premiere of HBP. They asked Graham Norton if he'd read the books and he said "Read the books? Of course I haven't! Why would I do that? Why would I want to waste days reading all those pages when I can sit down for a couple of hours and get everything in all this wonderful colour?" That really annoyed me. They just don't get it, do they? Without the books, there wouldn't be any films, so how can they dimsiss them so easily? Another guy that made me laugh was on the red carpet for the NY premiere and they asked if he was a big fan of Harry Potter and he said "Oh yeah, I'm a huge fan, I've read all six books". When my cousin stayed for the night, she saw my copy of Deathly Hallows and asked me if I liked the story, well of course I said yes. I thought she did too until she said. "The ending was ugly."
"What ending? You read the books?"-Me "No, just the movies."-Her "The final film's not done yet."-Me "But I watched Deathly Hallows"-Her "What? The latest one was HBP!"-Me "Oh,"... "Harry Potter's not good anyway. I think it's crap." ..."No it isn't...." -------------------- "There are all kinds of courage. She's one of my closest cousins ever, but it changed, that night.... That's exactly the kind of stuff I hear from Twilight fans which makes me dislike it more and more. I equate it to disliking someone just because they have a different favourite colour. As if you couldn't possibly have a positive relationship with someone who thinks your favourite colour is ugly. My favourite of the screw-ups other people have made regarding Harry Potter though would probably have to be when my brother was younger and would try to say spells and end up saying them all wrong or mixing them up. I'd get irritated and correct him over and over again, as if a toddler should know Latin. |

The worst mistakes are the people who claim they are 'Harry Potter Fans' but never even picked up a book. It bugs me when they make a movie reference that wasn't in the book.
My parents have also had a fair share of wrong names. When my mom first read the book she thought Hermoine was a boy ...? and Hagrid was a student ...? Some people just don't get it. -------------------- Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you.

That's priceless. They must've figured HBP was the last film so just went with that. Some people.... -------------------- |

This thread had me laughing uncontrollably. I had so many to list but I've forgotten most of them
Probably not screw-ups as such but... I hate it when Harry Potter is compared to Twilight. They cannot be compared! == Besides, Twilight is a fad, Harry Potter is most definitely not. I also hate it when people say that books are "boring". I hate it when I have to explain to people the differences between the books and the movies |

This thread is hilarious
Personally, I haven't seen anyone do any big screw-ups. People tend to ignore HP things where I live. When people ask me what I'm reading, I'll tell them Harry Potter, and then they'll usually just shrug and walk off. However, I have a teacher who wanted to know which Harry Potter book I was reading, and then proceeded to quote Harry Potter Puppet Palls. Favourite teacher Sorry, off-topic. We analyzed the Harry Potter books briefly in norwegian class, and I was somewhat amused when everyone had trouble remembering the names of the main characters. |

I also remember when I was just starting to read the books. I asked my classmate if he has book 3. And he said, 'No, I gave our whole collection to my cousin. I didn't read it. Reading it will just pull me away from reality and make me dumb.'
-This didn't make me mad, I just laughed at him... I told him he was crazy to the highest level. I also told him, 'Try reading it.Book 1 didn't allow me to sleep until I finish it.' -------------------- "There are all kinds of courage.
