So I was getting a bit frustrated by leaky search's slowness, flood control, and lack of a feature to sort by relevance, so I figured why not use a different search like Google?
By putting site:leakylounge.com before or after your keywords in google search, you get a pretty good search. It is especially useful when you are looking for something obscure on the forum. What it does is restrict the search results to just ones from that site. (Try searching your username this way.) So for example, if you wanted to find a thread about Centaurs on leaky quickly, you could type: "centaurs site:leakylounge.com" without quotes, and you'll get relevant results. Right now, the "Why Are There No Female Centaurs?" thread is the first hit for that search. You can also use this on Lexicon. For example, if you wanted to learn about veelas, you could type "veela site:hp-lexicon.org" without quotes and you'll get it's entry. Since it takes a while for things to show up on google, this method doesn't work so well with very new topics, so that's a draw back. I think this alternative will suit the webmasters nicely though because I think it would also cut down on the server load.
