Jane Austen's wonderful novel, Sense and Sensibility, has been made into several movie adaptations. My personal favorite movie adaptation includes Emma Thompson, and Kate Winslet, who portray the sisters Dashwood, and the wonderful and oh so handsome Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon smile.gif

Some questions to consider in this topic:

I like both versions, but prefer the recent BBC one. I find the casting and script to be more 'accurate' to how I imagined Sense & Sensibility. Now the big movie one with Emma and Kate had some wonderful actors in smaller roles that could really steal a scene and the pacing is faster. And granted, Andrew Davies took a few liberties by giving us the seduction scene of Colonel Brandon's ward right at the beginning of the newer BBC adaptation. But the Elinor and Edward characters are spot-on, as is Mrs. Dashwood and the whole conniving Ferrars family (outside of Edward.)

If you have never seen it, it will be re-broadcast in the US on PBS's Masterpiece Classic. I believe part 1 is February 1st and part 2 is February 8th.
