Jane Austen's wonderful novel, Sense and Sensibility, has been made into several movie adaptations. My personal favorite movie adaptation includes Emma Thompson, and Kate Winslet, who portray the sisters Dashwood, and the wonderful and oh so handsome Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon smile.gif

Some questions to consider in this topic:
  • Which movie adaptation was your favorite and why?
  • Who were your favorite actors and actresses?
  • Which actors would you have liked to see in the movies?
  • Do you think the movie adaptations portrayed Jane Austen's characters adequately?
  • Which were some of your favorite scenes in the movies?
You are free to answer the questions given and please offer some of your own smile.gif

Have fun and happy posting type.gif

Another thing I like about the Alan Rickman/Emma Thompson adaptation is the musical score smile.gif I thought it was absolutely fantastic and I have the CD, which I listen to often. The music is just so lilting at times, and it really made the movie so much more emotionally riveting.

Kate Winslet portrayed the "sensibility" so well in this movie IMO, and I really think she captured it true to the books. And I think she played a great foil to Emma Thompson's character. I agree with you, chloe and ethelnorthbrook, that Emma was a wise choice for the character, since the character was so mature. She was really able to portray the maturity and wisdom, that comes across in the books.

I do like the BBC version too. MysteryloverAnne, thank you for the broadcast times/dates smile.gif

momwitch I get choked up at the end too, even to this day, knowing how the movie will end lol.
