SAINT OR SINNER? Greetings, my loyal readers! In preparation for the forthcoming publication of my new book, Severus Snape, Saint or Sinner? I have a real treat for you. I have no less than an excerpt from my interview with the man's portrait, as it now hangs in Hogwarts Headmaster's office. And here it is. I have quoted Severus Snape's replies verbatim. Rita Skeeter: We understand that you were appointed headmaster of Hogwarts after the death of Albus Dumbledore. Could you please tell us on whose authority this appointment was made? QUOTE(Severus_Snape) Certainly I could answer. The Dark Lord appointed me Headmaster of Hogwarts, as the most suitable and reliable person for the job at the time. Rita Skeeter: This event preceded by mere weeks the publication of my earlier book, The life and lies of Albus Dumbledore, in which it was established that you had a less than cordial relationship with Harry Potter, did you not? QUOTE(Severus_Snape) That is true. Potter, always an exceedingly arrogant young man, liked to believe what he wanted to believe. I doubt I taught him anything of value, and I was always aware of the hostility he felt towards me. Rita Skeeter: Were you aware of the allegations Potter made at the time that it was you who killed Albus Dumbledore? QUOTE(Severus_Snape) Yes I am aware of these allegations. In truth, I did kill Albus Dumbledore - on his orders. The man was already dying from some adventure he had undertaken, and my action was to reduce Albus further suffering, prevent further bloodshed and to get rid of the death eaters already in the castle. Rita Skeeter: And so you claim it was for altruistic motives that you killed Dumbledore, not because you wanted to become headmaster, or because some of Dumbledore's behaviour irked you! How did the rest of Hogwarts staff react to your appointment? QUOTE(Severus_Snape) Yes, I do claim it was for a good reason. The rest of the staff felt I had betrayed Dumbledore, especially as mine was not the only Hogwarts staffing appointment the Dark Lord made. Alecto and Amycus Carrow were appointed respectively the Muggle Studies and the Defence against the Dark Arts teachers for that year Rita Skeeter: These teachers earned a fearsome reputation for violence and intimidation, and for their association with the Dark Lord and others like Pius Thicknesse. Would you agree it was your association with these sorts of people, and with the Dark Lord which led to your dismissal from the Headmastership? Severus Snape: Yes I certainly would agree, though the presence of Potter had much to do with it. Rita Skeeter: I understand you died at the Battle of Hogwarts, fighting for the Dark Lord, and that Harry Potter was present when you were killed. Severus Snape: It was the Dark Lord who ordered his snake Nagini to kill me. Harry Potter arrived after the Dark Lord left the Shrieking Shack. Rita Skeeter (incredulously): And up to that point, Harry Potter was still hostile to you! Why would the Dark Lord order your execution? Severus Snape: As far as I know, Potter remained as he always was. The Dark Lord ordered many executions. Why he ordered mine, was between him and myself. Rita Skeeter: Are you aware that Harry Potter defeated the Dark Lord, and that before he did, he claimed that you and Potter's mother, Lily, were close? Are you aware that it was Harry Potter who also led the campaign to have your portrait hung along with the other Hogwarts Headmasters? Severus Snape: Uh? What was that? He arranged it? Rita Skeeter: Are you also aware that Harry Potter also named his second son after yourself? The child was called Albus Severus Potter! Severus Snape: The next time I want nonsense told to me I'll get someone to feed you a babbling beverage! Rita Skeeter: And are you aware that Albus Severus Potter is already on his way to start at Hogwarts this year? Don't you want to see this child? Severus Snape (angrily): OUT, woman! Out! Why would I want to see Potter's precious son? Get out of here! At that point, Dumbledore's portrait interrupted, saying: Now, now Severus! The boy is only eleven years old At this stage I was obliged to leave. But has Severus Snape answered everything he could? What was his relationship with Potter's mother? Why has Harry Potter changed his attitude to this man? And how will it affect young Albus? What questions would you, my loyal reader, have about this man, this supporter of the Dark Lord? How would he react to seeing young Albus Severus in the Headmaster's office? Will old animosities live on? Will Professor Snape do his deathly best to make this young lad's stay at Hogwarts a miserable experience?
