Snape was sixteen--seems to be DE initiation age. Which is probably why he couldn't deny that he was lining up to join the DE when Lily conrnered him--it wasn't 'what" he called her, it was that she could see that every thing people were saying about him, the Dark Arts and Voldemort was true:

I think he could see like everyone else, that Lily in spite of everything was very attracted to the Arrogant Toerag and that made him mad. He saw it earlier but she denied it. I think he was angry at Sirius because he thinks Sirius told Lily James save his life, but I'm beginning to think it was Lupin who told Lily about James saving Snape's life and didn't tell Snape this until after Sirius died. |
