Well, I would agree there, if it weren't for the fact that he actually runs into a Boggart that turns into a Dementor in the maze... But yes, his fear of Dementors are drastically diminshed after his time-turner experience!

Thats a very interesting theory. I think the sphinx let him pass cuz he got it wrong. And if you remember that after the sphinx let him pass he got attacked by a spider. But thats just me brainstorming wink.gif

Execllent essay. I must say that I never would have thought the answer should be anything other that spider... I would have failed miserably against the Sphinx! Lots of great points and of course, now that you say it, Dementor would indeed be a great answer. Thanks for sharing!

Quite a few of you are correct about DE-MEN-T-OR, however I remember that in the book version of GOF when Harry did the Third Task that he thought he saw a dementor but it actually turned out to be a boggart. (Maybe the Sphinx thought because he ran into the boggart earlier in the maze that Harry would come up with the answer as a dementor.)

Moose a very well thought out essay on this particular question though. smile.gif
