Fellow teachers:
I think you should all read some very important information posted by DorisTLC here (click on the link). This is a serious concern for all of us who teach. We need to consider taking the issue personally and contacting our legislators. -------------------- click the Q "And, if there is need to speak in brief summary of this power, we shall find that none of the things which are done with intelligence take place without the help of speech, but that in all our actions as well as in all our thoughts speech is our guide, . . ." Hi all! OK, um, I'm not a teacher yet; I'm in school to become one. Can I still post in here? I'm really interested to talk to you all and read your posts. I want to get as much input as possible regarding teaching. I'm actually going to be a secondary biology teacher (though I'm still trying to think how I can fit Harry in there somewhere
And I just have to say this: I'm starting a Music Appreciation course at our high school this year. My textbooks just came in- "The Enjoyment of Music", 10th edition. Well, you know how texts like to intersperse relevant quotations from notable cultural figures? On the back cover of the book and right above the introduction is: "Ah, music... a magic beyond all we do here." - Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry How awesome is that? ...is probably the most incredibly awesome thing ever. EVER. -------------------- |

Thanks, wordsaremagic! It was two years ago on winter break from school that my young one and I sat down to read SS together (the first time for both of us), beginning this wonderful journey.

Inkheart is pretty good. My grandkids and I have also enjoyed the Percy Jackson series. It's a kind of upside down spoof and tribute to all Greek mythology.Best wishes to all for a joyous holiday and a fun-filled winter break! -------------------- click the Q "And, if there is need to speak in brief summary of this power, we shall find that none of the things which are done with intelligence take place without the help of speech, but that in all our actions as well as in all our thoughts speech is our guide, . . ."
