TAROT Playing cards have provided Harry and friends hours of enjoyment, in endless games of Exploding Snap, or even Ron's castle of cards in Philosopher's Stone. But cards, in particular tarot cards, can be used in divination also. Ever since Professor Trelawney was depicted, reading cards in Harry Potter and the Half- blood Prince the subject of tarot cards has been relevant to the story and the outcome of the Harry Potter series. Two particular cards, the Lightning-struck tower (Card 16) and the Hanged man (Card 12 ) have been noted so far. The hanged man, in particular, which in older decks was also called the traitor card, connects with Little Hangleton, the pub there called the Hanged Man, a popular word game called Hangman and Snape's Levicorpus spell.
